Mixing with a reference track

Hello Michael,

2 questions. What is your view about using a reference track to help dial in a mix? Have you used a reference track and if so, what is the main focus your trying to emulate in your own mix? Sorry this is vague, but you seem to be apt at mixing any genre/style of music, you must be listening to everything out there?
