Marshall, what drives you when you produce a track?

Diffirent producers have their own "fetishes" in regards to what drives them when producing a track.

Alot of folks in dance music focus on the kick and bass.. Others on getting that lead up and running then building around that.. etc.

What drives you? You usually start out by getting some beats done? Playing a funky bassline? What? ;-)

Tell us the chain of events of how a MJ track usually comes alive. :-)

I usually see multiple elements before i even get close to a keyboard, so I just start with whatever I feel 1st.......................but bassline and drums are usually last, with the excpetion of the kick, which I'll put down for timing. The keyboard part are much easier for me than the drums, which need a lot more micromanagement.
