Hi Marshall, really cool to have you on gearslutz for a Q & A. Thanks!!

I have a couple of questions.....

Would you be willing to share anything regarding guidelines for approaching the business side of things, possibly suggestions for enabling the business side to work with your music rather than against it?

Also, as a DJ do you have a particular approach to playing to a crowd? What are some of your favorite cities and or clubs to play? Could you share some of your favorite moments as a DJ?

My approach is entertain, and at the same time, educate. Many times I've been told by people that they didn't know House Music sounded like that. What I try to do is play a variety of different styles, because House Music by definition is the best underground dance music. It doesn't have to fit into any genre, it can be anything, as long as it's cool and underground. I don't restrict myself to a 4-4 foot and I'll play underground techno, but right after i may play some Masters at Work.

Favorite cities to play?

Hmmmm, Waterford Ireland, Novi Sad, Serbia. Chicago, Illinois, Sydney Australia, Pag Croatia.

Favorite moments as a DJ? There are so many it's hard to pick one, I think I'll start a new thread for called "true DJ stories"

I was thinking more from the perspective of a dance music artist/"producer", should have been more specific.

What would be your approach to making the most of releases? with the state of digital distribution being popular, it seems really easy for a release to fade away when released digitally. Most artists which have been successful using digital distribution for their music have solved this, by releasing lots of tracks, not necessarily with quality or variation in mind.

I did not know that you will play Techno, seems that when I hear a house DJ I am usually looking to hear a few Techno tracks as well, often I get bored with a DJ playing the same style for an entire set.

As far as making the most of releases there's only one way: promotion.

You have to find what works for you. I know one guy that has an emailing list of over 250,000 DJ's and music business people. There are people on My Space with over a million friends. You Tube is an option not explored by many dance artists. What the most successful have in common is an artist and an image. A lot of them have absolutely terrible music. But if you combine the 3-artist, promotion, and great music, good things could happen.

If you have great music don't waste it. Don't just toss it out there and expect people to find it out of the thousands of other releases every week. Think about how you want it presented and how you can get that presentation to the masses.

I will have to try and rack my brain to come up with some more questions before the period is over, this is a really great opportunity for dance music people.
