Peter Gabriel's vocal recordings on 'So'

Thanks for doing this Kevin, your replies are an interesting read.

Could you let us know what mics, preamps and so on that were used to record Peter Gabriel's vocals on So?

Best wishes

Stephen

Stephen

It was an Neumann U47, through the console mic pre (SSL e series) with a modest amount of compression through a Decca tube compressor.

On kate Bush we used a U67, similar chain.

Thanks Kevin

That's cleared up several years of speculation for me!

Stephen,

Good, now you can finally go to sleep

Of course we could have used and old megaphone and it still would have sounded great on PG. He just has one of those timeless voices.
