Strings/Violins on "The three of me"

Hi Alan,
I have this question for years:
on "The three of me" (the first track of TAO) I can clearly hear a string section (especially in the intro part), but the players credit only lists Graham Preskett playing "violins".
Can you explain how you used and multitracked the violin as to create the sound of an entire string section?

Thank you from Italy,
Andrea

It was a real orch. Graham Preskett just played the fiddle parts on Jigue.
