isn't it one of the first in-the-box smash world hits?

i think, the progress was, to get these extremely different and intense women into one very tight production.

addendum: bummer! thx e-cue.

The remake of 'Lady Marmalade' wasn't mixed entirely ITB. It was ITC on a 9000j.

e-cue is right again

We had about 200 faders on the console with that bitch. It was massive. I did an interview about the details of that mix, but if you ask me some specific questions I will try to answer them. My favorite part of that mix was the cowbell. really. I did a lot of comping, volume, and efx in ProTools. That mix could not have happend without the box. Trust me.

cool

Thanks Dave.
What about the plugins and outboard you used on that song?
I may look at the referenced magazine also. ( I guess I have some here, a pic of yours with a PT screen shot of that session).
:)

My favorite part of that mix is the heaviness of the main riff, with the layered bass and guitar (synth guitar)?

What were you using for your vocal delays on that tune? Actually, I am curious about the vocal chain in general.

I love the way that song sounds....you did an excellent job mixing it.....one of the better mixes I've heard in the past few years.

Funny side story, I ran into David Lucas, who was the REAL producer AND cowbell player for "Don't Fear the Reaper", and he said he had never even heard about that SNL skit!

Given what we've all come to know about the shape of the waveforms we're getting on mastered CDs these days, how can you assume that any master fader moves are going to survive final limiting?

Because the highest master fader gain is going to get the most limiting and therefor sound louder?

Better try it .

Greetings,
Dirk

BTW- Hi Dave. I produced a couple tracks that you mixed for Angela Via a long while back. Remember that surround mix for Pokemon the movie you did!? Loved those BGVs sailing across my head... HA!

Glad you're here.

Oops. I don't know how this ended up here. It was supposed to be in the "riding the master fader" thread.

Thanks Dave, how long does it take you to do a mix like that?
