1:1 compression ratio on distressor: why?

Hello again Dave,

what does this ratio setting does to the sound? I notice it has an effect (very interesting) but i can't figure out what it is.

To hit the distortion without any dynamics processing. I do it more than I probably should.

Me too... even if it's not the comp of choice for a particular setup, I find myself running signal through it (after whatever compressor) more and more these days just for that little extra something on the way to hard disk (1:1 Dist 3).
