Handheld recorders

Hi Daniel,
I've read in an interview, that you were using cheap handheld recorders (Zoom ?) in some sessions. Could you elaborate a lil bit more on this technique ? eg timealigning and panning ? Some favourite spaces to place them ?
thx alot !

Always use a crystal locked machine. That way when you ultimately align your varied sources they will stay in sync for the duration. Recently we found that our most exciting drum sound was the recording on the camera use for video taping a session. The camera sound blended with our regular micing set up turned out to be an exciting combination.
