Not yet. I did meet with Dave Lebolt and Stan Cotey a couple of times re D-Control. They explained what they were planning and asked for my suggestions.

I think the end result is incredible + gorgeous, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I'm curious to know Charles / Jules what you guys think in relation to the hot potato topic on DUC.

Re:
~No Pres / Dynamics or HD system included in base price

~Price point

~ICON vs SSL mixing

~Music vs Post end users.

I've got a little project studio w/ HDAccel but don't even have room or budget for ControlD. (maybe PC, C24, more outboard and mics are on my list)

Rob,

Regarding your questions.

~No Pres / Dynamics or HD system included in base price.

The $80k base price for the ICON (Integrated Console) does include an HD3 Accel system, but the $60k for D-Control is for the control surface alone. The pre's one would presumably purchase if they wanted Digi's would be their Pre, but I assume digi don't bundle them in because some customers would prefer other manufacture's. And since it's PT, the console's dynamics would be plugs wouldn't it?

~Price point

It's expensive, and I wish it were less, but it ain't.

~ICON vs SSL mixing

I've not had a chance to put my hands on the D-Control yet

~Music vs Post end users.

I think the post guys (+ gals) are going to be all over it. Music may take a little longer. My bet is that in a couple of years there will be a lot them around.

I agree. It's main target group is post / film I think.

Icon is like it says ... an integrated console solution. You determine yourself how many I/O's / dsp / pre's / faders it has.

I had a fairly detailed explanation / presentation of the Icon a week or 2 ago. It looks great and I hope to be able to put my fingers on one pretty soon too.... maybe aes in Berlin.

Digi is going to have working units at the NAB show in Los Vegas. The date are April 19-22 for those who might be interested in a closer look.

its ok. just another controller if you ask me.

I would have expected him to be more impressed....maybe it's not all it's cracked up to be?

Just some insight..not saying it sucks or anything...please don't bash me.

Being a post guy, and having talked to a couple of other post people. They can't see themselves moving from using high-end consoles to a controller.

I'm not talking the one man post-houses, but larger rooms, with multiple mixers on a show.

That's the approach they should have taken, IMO. A complete consle that interfaces with PT's. The consteallatio is just that. allt he leveling and clip eq is a secobd layer of processing , separte from the console.

I totally agree. The console is a tiny part of the investment and a post mixer has no time to convert last-minute elements into Pro Tools. I don't think anybody at digi has spent much time on a real stage. It's kind of a no-brainer.
