Acoustic guitars & Piano on 21st Century Breakdown

I was wondering if you could tell us a bit about recording acoustic guitars in 21st Century Breakdown, you know, if you could share with us which guitars, mics, and preamps were used it'd be great. Mic placement, too?

Thanks.

Oroz...we'll have to get Chris Dugn to weigh in the exactly what we used. Billie has several really sweet sounding guitars, an we would always listen to the part before picking which guitar sounded best. Chris will know what the recording chain was!

Most of the acoustic guitar tracks were recorded using a U67 and a U47. The U67 aimed at the 12th fret and the U47 at the bridge and then panned wide. Both mics through a Chandler LTD1. On the song "Restless Heart Syndrome" a Fairchild 670 was used on both channels.

May I ask, what kind of piano you used on the album? It's sounds very nice, and 'cause there are pretty good sampled pianos out there nowadays, I was wondering, if the piano was 'real' or sampled one?

I also want to thank you and Gearslutz.com for having this kind of great Q & A possibility!

Cheers,

Ville

Thanks to Butch and everyone in the BV camp for taking the time to do this it's been a great forum!

I would also inquire about the piano on 21st Century. . . it sounds like the felt has been taken off the hammers or something, it's a fantastic sound!

Thanks

Thanks Chris, do you remember which acoustic guitars were used? Does Billie has a favorite one?

Tac piano?
Id like to know about the piano sound too. Im pretty sure that it was nicely recorded, but CLA does something to the piano on the records I hear. Compression and EQ at mix time would make a big difference I would think...but please shed some light:-) Butch you rock BTW.
