Kick Drum mic stand alternative!

Im not sure if anyone has seen this before, but this was in a instrument classified section in our local city beat paper. It looks like a sweet alternative if your not moving your drums around alot, or have alot of clients bringing in thier own drums.

Cool. The best part is that it attaches to the hardware, not the shell, which always seemed like a bad idea to me. The May drum mic system requires drilling new holes in your shell

This would be a godsend if I was still playing club gigs around town. It might also be great if installing the mount is quick and easy, then it would lend itself to recording incoming drummers as well.

Hmm... upon closer examination, I'd be concerned about the mic jiggling around inside the shell since all kick shells bounce and flex a little bit every time they are hit. The mount attaches to the lug tuning hardware by basically bungee cords...

Have you tried this thing yet, PT User?

It might be more stable than I think. Worth a try!

I always thought that the May system bolted onto the inside attachments of a drum. I believe you can also purchase drums with custom fitted May mounts. Still this kick stand alternative seems worthy of a try.

I just checked out the May site, and you're right. It has been a long time since I looked at the May system, but I thought when it first came out, it was installed by drilling into the shells.

No, I have not tried it. I just saw it today and figured it was a cool ideal. Looks very hassel free once its setup.
