Software Native Instruments - Monark (One synth to rule them all)

The brand-new MONARK delivers the warm, organic sound of a classic analog monophonic synthesizer that has shaped four decades of popular music. Its smooth and natural sound is complimented by an intuitive, streamlined control panel that allows users to quickly dial in sounds and start creating music. Based on years of research, MONARK uses REAKTOR’s powerful modular DSP framework to faithfully recreate the interaction of complex analog circuits, including the behavior of the filter when overloaded, filter and oscillator drift, and snappy envelopes that make stabbing melodic lines and even punchy electronic drum sounds easy to create. The sound has been fine-tuned by ear by MONARK’s engineers to create a powerful mono synth with a level of richness and depth not previously found in software.

Sounds like a Lush competitor.
Interesting how greedy this synth on CPU.

Dear NI, everything you've ever released had teeth ( the digital nails-screeching-on-a-blackboard kind of teeth ). I'd like you to try and make something really lush for a change...

They might want to back off the rhetoric just a tad, If it's a REVOLUTION, I expect something a little higher up the food chain than another "mee too" sounding 2013 synth....

I wonder if they'd make a hardware controller for it? That'd be a revolution... i guess...

So from the title of the thread....does this mean I'll have to chuck this into a mountain somewhere in Germany?

"One synth to rule them all."

Leave it to NI to make a claim like that.. if the the video and demos I heard were any indication, this thing most definitely wont be ruling anything in my world.

Video wound me up in a bad way. Too hot to handle. Cool Tron style graphics though.

Demos are not directed to someone with my taste, but I can tell there is some tonal integrity [for lack of a better term] to the thing.

Most important question: Do they give an ETA or is this just... sometime in the future?...

You mean hardware only as in requiring an external CPU besides the native processor? No, DSP just means digital signal processing and does not mean it requires an additional processor.

It also can mean "Digital Signal Processor" and therefore refer just to hardware.

Until NI says more we don't know exactly which they are referring to.

Yes, it can mean that, but I'm sure in this case it doesn't. External CPUs are dying, and NI is forward thinking company. With todays native CPUs there's not really a point to using an additional external one. Powercore is already dead, and UAD will be in a matter of years.

It's a VI. It would make exactly zero sense for NI to try to add more hardware to their lineup for a synth. Not their market and it would mostly get eyerolls at this point.

You don't know for sure, but they do say "virtual synth." That is probably software, but could mean hardware too.

Muck.

No but, in the routing diagram there is a ton of filters, then graphs of the resonant peaks and the demo is clearly demonstrating the filters, almost screaming like a MS-20.

Also i saw about six osc shapes/waveforms, the standard triangle, saw, square to pulse.

Sounds like another 'old' analogue style synth.

In fact, that resonance, those waveforms, the routing, i'd say its styled on the MS-20.

You can all buy me a drink later if im right
