Really liking the new tape modes in ReelBus!

FIX seems really nice even if for some reason feels more like a multiband compressor (splitted bands) instead of a dynamic EQ (EQ bands with freq/gain and Q) . The stereo width per band is a great feature.
I already have the MeldaProduction Dynamic EQ but let's see how the workflow with ths one is.

For a few TB plugins the manual is recommended: http://www.toneboosters.com/manuals/...ins_Manual.pdf

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm also really digging the latest tape model for that super-smooth, non-spikey 70s sound.

Agreed.
The latest one in particular does a GREAT job on the stereo bus.

Whoops, didn't even notice there's another new "Glue" one! I was referring to the "Soft and Smooth". Curious to see what comes up in the last remaining slot...

Stupid question, but how do you get the new tape machine for Reelbus if you already own it?

Does that mean I have to pay for it again? I've tried dowloading it through the website but the only way seems to be buying a new license code, or to download a trial, which I assume will overwrite my current full version?

Sod it, I'll email them.

You just download the TB bundle, place the NEW TB Reelbus in your folder and it's done.

Your keyfile (which you received by email when you bought it) is still in your plugin folder as before...

The new "Glue tape" model is very cool. Something like that was missing!

The new tape algos make me want to use ReelBus on each and every track – they're really incredible, Jeroen!!! So much better than the initial ones!

Just a thumbs up for Toneboosters. It's some of the best bang for the buck on the market. I actually prefer Reelbus to the UAD tape simulations. Barricade is great.

And the new FlX just needs a few tweaks.

If your looking for a multiband compressor / dynamic eq this is definitely worth checking out. Note: The plug-in GUI does not display in Pro Tools 10 what fxpansion VST to RTAS wrapped even though you can instantiate the plug-in.

I prefer UAD Ampex & Studer but I have to say that´s my personal taste.
If I couldn´t afford the UAD ones, I´d happily use Reelbus with zero regrets!

Compared to VTM it´s the bomb, way cheeper and to my ears even better...

Hi Grooveminister
since you're familiar with the VTM and UAD's, which are your favorite settings on TB Reelbus? The new ones are excellent but "Tape Glue" Mode seems a bit much and requiers very good setting of the parameters. I tend to lower the "Spectrum" (seems a bit bright when over 70% or so).

Anyway...I'm intersted in your opinion.

Thanks

P.S. Your videos are made so well!

@DrAudioBot:
I´ve tried them in Vegas and tweaked with some presets including "suble saturation" or "medium saturation".
The problem is that Vegas automatically alters the presets once you change settings, so I can´t say if the initial presets were that good.

My gotos are Studer & Ampex and I bought Reelbus to be able to happily use it once I run out of DSP on larger mixes.
Since that hasn´t happened yet, I have to admit that I´m much more experienced in setting up A800 & ATR-103 as I am with Reelbus.

Here is pic of the settings I'm currently using on the stereo bus in a mix.
It may be of interest to you.
I find it best not to drive RB too hard.
I try to keep it between -3 and 0 on the RB VU.

I have VTM and Kramer MPX.
In this mix VTM is on the drum bus, Kramer not used.

cheers

Thanks for the replies Grooveminister and Beatworld. Your settings look very much like mine (I do make gentle use of the circuit clip occasionally).

Ditto, an output knob would be very useful.
