Hardware NAMM: Warm Audio TB12 Tonebeast

Warm Audio and RAD Distribution would like to announce the new TB12 Tonebeast mic preamp. This unit is based off of our Wa12 circuit with many useful added features. These features include:

New 1u rack space design
2x switchable output transformers, one steel core and one nickel core
2x switchable opamp circuits
Switchable from an electrolytic to tantalum capacitor circuit
An internal power supply requiring no wall wart
An output transformer bypass switch
An Output attenuation pot

All of these switchable components lend to a highly flexible preamp with not only one voicing character but can rather be shaped to fit your needs.

This unit of course still includes our much loved tone switch.

Retail Pricing: $599.99

Please drop by our booth RAD #4142 to check this item out.

You bought gear one week before NAMM?!!!!!

Always good to see what comes up first, before pulling that trigger. I wanted to buy a few pres a couple of weeks ago, but curve balls always get thrown out of NAMM, so I am waiting.......

But still missing a hi pass filter. I'd like the Avalon M5 HPF style.
The wa12 is a great preamp, but I just don't need 2 input transformers or 2x opamps. I prefer only one, but with higher quality.

Yeah I know but you/we may have to wait 2-12 months before NAMM stuff hits the stores.
For the price and reviews it can't be beat.

Cheers

I don't really under this? Having one but with higher quality? Who says this pre amp is not already high quality? It also has the ability to bypass the output transformer, so therefore, it could very well be the preamp, with one transformer in path and high quality that you are talking about!!!!!

Heres the question? Can I get the SAME sound out of tis as the WA12 if I wanted or does this box sound diff? If it has more tone variety thats cool, Id just like to be able to start at the WA12 tone if you will

I was wondering the same thing. Is it taking a different angle to the API lean of the WA12 or is it a WA12 big time pimped??

Loving the feature set of the TB12 by the way. Would love it even more if it came in something other than Orange!!!!!

I think this is going to be a purchase for me, once I see it in the U.K........

Grab a paint spray gun bro, easy peasy. I only care about the sound. Im looking at my rack right now. I see 10 black and 3 silver units, none of which is easy to see anything in the dim lights. I HATE black units, cant see anything on them.

Im just hoping this box sounds exactly like the WA12 out the gate but can be tweaked a little more. The WA12 is cool

The tone of the wa12 is still there, The other buttons and switches allow you to modify the character beyond that. With all buttons out and no output attenuation, the circuit is a wa12. Rest assured, if you like the tone of the wa12 then you will LOVE the Tb12.

I only care about the sound too, BUT, I have a Focusrite Red 3, DBX 162SL, EMT A411 Channel strips and a couple of Focusrite ISA220's, so colour in my rack.....not an issue!!

I too would like it to sound like the WA12 but with extra bells and whistles. I was going to buy two WA12's before NAMM, but now I AM getting two of these instead......

This pre looks extremely interesting! Wonder if all the extra switchable circuitry will add a lot of noise!?

I own the wa12. (love it btw) BUT, im just gonna be ungrateful and greddy at the same time. Can we get like a WA12 channel strip with a comp on board. Id buy that in a heart beat. I mean yea This tone beast is making me look hard at my savings......but id def love to see what you guys do with an outboard compressor.
