| No offense to the project, whatever it is they're trying to do. Just reflecting on the history and current state of transducer technology and wondering why it's not.... going.... anywhere... Tired of dynamics, condensers, and ribbons (oh my!)... can't we think of anything better? I guess unttil we get "back to where we were" with the 47, only then can we progress further? meh.... I say let's just make new stuff and stop comparing to the old, huh? |

And what exactly do you propose? Titanium capsules with lithium ion power? That mic is the sexiest thing I've ever seen ![]()

| I was going to buy a cardioid-only version for around $4,000 several years ago. I was hesitant to send that much money to a one-man company in Finland however, and I probably didn't have the cash anyway. The designer told me that he was recording some vocals in stereo, with a vintage U47 and a Nu-47. He said they matched up very well. So if it sounds like a U47, what's this about "hearing the world the way it was meant to be heard"? In any event, it looks like the price tag has gone up considerably. I wonder what changes they've made to the mic in the last few years? I think the grille could look better though, especially for that kind of money. |

haha! I've wondered why they never used titanium to make microphones. They make the best sounding tweeters I've ever heard (way better than ribbons I think). Is titanium too hard to use as a capsule? Wonder how good a laser mic would sound? Might be great for some applications I guess.. "Don't look into the mic, it'll blind you"

| eh, sorry, but is that a joke? photograph of a ridiculous hand-carved wooden microphone with fancy blue light in it. no actual information. romantic gibbering nonsense for the product description. must be a good buy. mmm. yeah. richie.

| Swedien talks about that mic in the Sep 2005 edtion of EQ, so if it's a joke, there's a really long wait for the punch line. |

I had to go and look at the website after that. I don't think I want a mic made of wood to be honest. And what a lot of inconclusive hype! Is it a U47 or is it the Next Big Thing? WHo can tell? More indecision: For instance, the motto we have chosen for ourselves is "Ears First!" Or perhaps better yet we should say "Music First!" And then we have the unintended, but perhaps appropriate, suggested acronym: This microphone will be a product of the Highest Art of Microphone design. HAM design? Yeah, I guess so. All kidding aside, I'm sure the mic is quite decent. But, then again, does it actually exist? -Naren
