i hope there is no quality loss involved in the procedure and as a result the web gets flooded by so to say mp3 versions of kemper profiles

I can imagine it being good for the profile sharing community. Rackmount units like this seem to appeal to higher end studios who might have nice chains and lots of great and indispensable experience to profile!

I look forward to that future

ps- If I have to pay for those profiles, it's all good

Hmm I was wrong after all! This could be a case of justification, but I like the desktop style kemper as I take it to and fro the studio and home on a regular basis. It does appear all the functionality will remain the same in the 3U which is great. I am interested to know if there any internal processing power differences!

The rack unit is very nice... I'm saving money for a new guitar amp but Kemper looks so good...!

Too bad over 700$ + for the PowerAmp version....

But - it does deliver 600 watts! That comes to just over a dollar per watt. Gotta love that! ;-) Imaginge at Namm 2014, the 15w "studio" version, just 20 USD more...

I'm curious, is there any reason that you couldn't use the Kemper to profile a bass amp? I play guitar, but I play bass too. Thanks

Bill.

Any word on a foot controller? Or a an editor? Would be great if you could just hook the kemper direct to your computer via USB after profiling and fill in all the blanks on your computer as well as organize everything from your computer, I'm surprised something like that doesn't exist yet :(

No mention of an editor at all, although there is at least a librarian being made soon which would solve my biggest issue of moving profiles around. Foot Controller is at least in the design phase, there's more info on that on the Kemper Forums. I don't know if the KPA is actually capable of integration like you'd want, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was if the Virus is anything to go by

what bothers me is the USB connection on the front. direct access to the rackmount from a computer would suggest to leave the cable sticking. i'm guessing the usb on the front suggests to use an usb stick to upload or download profiles.

The front USB is for memory sticks - there's a type B USB port on the back too which I assume is for the rumored librarian.

There's a usb type B connector on the back. It is for computer connection.
Usb type A on the front is for stick.

p.s. Too late.. Virtuoso has answered already

I must be the only one who thinks the Lunchbox looks a lot neater. The rack doesn't have the pizazz of the box; however I can see how many studio guys would rather have the rack. It certainly looks better than the Axe-FX. Surprised with as much money and the following Axe-FX has that they couldn't have designed a better looking unit. I get it, function over form, but still.

I think the lunch box is great better than the rack as the rack doesn't have the LED's round all the knobs which is definetly something I would miss in a live situation, plus more people comment on the strange toaster like thing at gigs

If I was going to leave the unit in one place eg a rack at the studio I'd probably get the rack version but as I move mine about alot for gigs this really really suits me !!!

I demoed the Kemper Rack unit at NAMM very nice sounding through headphones. The tones being presented via 4x12 cab sounded good from what I could tell in such a noisy environment. I would strongly consider one of these very compact light and great sounding. I think I would opt out of the 600W model.
