Well i own quad and duo.
A big lose off money spend a year ago.
On the bright side, i realy like the uad plugins and happy for the new price.
Could have been nice if they did it last year
it's hilarious when audio companies release these press videos and they sound like sh!t! c'mon guys!
the main VO dialog sounds different at points, and there's a quick band interview where the phasing is off (sounds like they are using a bad combination of mics).
At the risk of fanning rampant speculation... In addition to the 610 package above, did you notice the rack of hardware at 1:42 ish? Suspicious/Delicious?

was it that crazy to do and release it 2 years ago ? ...it feels like intels they have always 2 models in advance .......and release it when theybfeel the need for them....
Showing 2 versions of the preamp, hence the "Collection". And know what guys, it's not running on the Apollo (see that dedicated Satellite hardware), so it's gonna be for everyone.
And as you guys said, if they model all that's in that rack... Manley Vari-Mu, API 2500...
Anybody recognize the Reverb/Delay in this promo video?
I was wondering the same thing. I dont think its primetime since I used to own one of these and pretty sure they only do distinct delays. Might be AMS.
But another thought i had was is that it could be part of the 610 console plugin. It could be a Bill Putnam reverb send?

They are both there - AMS reverb and delay (look at his lower picture) and a Lexicon Prime Time (top picture - colored knobs)
I already had a quad, so the Apollo improved my audio interface and gave me another quad = octo. The quad in the Apollo is priced like the new cards, so Apollo users got a good deal. I'm very happy with my octo.
Just received my quad less than a week ago. I will also be bummed if they offer a apollo octo with no upgrade...
If you just bought a quad new from dealer ($1499 map) I think in the last 30 days (September), I believe you are eligible to receive a decent sized plugin voucher from UA - look into it.
For everyone moaning this release, I think UA's been pretty good about not releasing stuff super frequently (we're only on UAD2, not UAD10) and about trying to help their current users when something new is released.
Random note - if you see the cards as a useless dongle, keep in mind the company's other alternative -> be like Waves and have thousands of pirated copies of your intellectual property floating around. When someone says "I have all the Waves plugs" it's like, "cool, so does every other shmuck". When someone says, "I have an omni" it is actual value added to a studio cause you've got something not everyone has. It's an "advantage" and those cost time/money or both.

+1!
Also when I show people these Plugins with the actual name of the emulated hardware.
Then add the fact that theses are the best emulations you can get!
Excuse me,I'm still in aww about this octo core!
For all the people that said a massive passive spent their full solo card,I demoed it comparing it to the NI passive eq.
Let me say that its the mastering version thats CPU heavy.

I'd also check for price guarantees from the retailer.
Good move from UAD. This is the first time I am tempted on UAD hardware.
+1. Well, in all fairness I've been tempted by UAD plugs in the past, just never pulled the trigger. Now that the octo is out, and the instance counts are at a place that makes sense (to me), I'm getting on board.

API and Thermionic are confirmed since long ago, no speculation there. LA2AMkII was hinted in a blog posted sometime before June, and now exists as a picture on the Octo box.
Yes it seems so. As much as someone hate native debate i think native had decent amount of pressure in releasing this stuff. I had uad duo and sold it because i never could justify that price for that ridiculous DSP. I always had feeling of beeing underpowered and i am not that crazy to throw so much money for uad quad.
Now prices are different and they are actually fair. Even so people will debate and hate and i do understand them.
This new card is something which needed to be "there" in the very beginning of all this uad-2 thing. But they waited and collected all that money from people on ridiculously priced quads. Now all of a sudden that quad is cheaper. I bet people which defended uad quad price and claimed how it is fair priced are eating their teeth now.. Not fair from uad. That's my imho of course.
Now i only need to wait several month and lurk on uad forums to get used uad octo (people always leave for various reason) for amazing price with amazing plugs. Or even cheaper quad LOL

So you have never ever bought a graphics card?
They don´t loose a third of their value after five years - they loose it after 5 months.
New DSP surprise! UAD-2 DSP Accelerator Package | Universal Audio
If you zoom in and look closely you will see DSP model is not the same!
UAD Quad card have ADSP-21369 400MHz and i like to see new Octo have 8x ADSP-21469 450MHz and standart DDR memory support too! AMAZING!
Does that turn the OCTO into a NOVEMO?
(Don´t know what the interval-inspired marketing expression for "NINE" is).
As my native language is german, I´d also love to know how the next step - the 16 CORE UAD-2 - would be called: The HEXDEC?
Anyway, I´m hoping and waiting for a thunderbolt satellite version of the OCTO (or HEXDEC)...
Still no news about Windows support lol ....i saw the new emulation in the video , and as a lot of plugin right here i hate the waisting space on the Protools wrapper left and right of the plugin ....they would be inspired to make the plugin horizontaly .....no uad user here ...but it happens alos for other brands ...
I know after swearing I'll never upgrade beyond 6.1 because of the UAD-1 thing and swearing that's it for me, and UA won't get another penny of my hard earned cash.
Swearing I'll stick with a 32bit rig .....
Now I have a strong feeling that UA will release a brilliant AMS RMX16 for UAD-2 only, and all my morals will instantly dissolve and like a drooling Homer Simpson, my credit card will come and I'll buy another Quad or even an Octo
and upgrade to 6.4.
