Behringer announces ADA8200 for 2012

Hey,

I did a quick search and found nothing on this... if it has been posted already, I'm sorry.

One of the reasons I signed up for this forum was this thread. So I thought people on here might be interested (even if some people won't admit it).

So far, Uli Behringer has announced this on another forum:

- The linear PSU has been replaced by a universal auto-range SMPSU. The heat issues are resolved
- A high-end Midas-designed preamp has been implemented on all 8 channels
- The detent VR's were replaced by non-detent types. They also feature much better linearity at high-gain settings
- High-quality Cirrus AD/DA converters have been designed in
- The TL072 op-amps were all replaced by NJM4580 for better audio performance

I (and others) am suspecting that the preamps are going to be the same as in the X32, and the converters are probably going to resemble the ones used in the FCA1616, also announced for later this year.

As far as I can tell, no word on sample rate limitations yet. The ADA8000 was limited to 48kHz...

Wow! A much better improvement.
Still, does this new version need a Black Lion Audio mod, what can BLA improve?

Lol thats funny. BLA have managed to add mods for some of the best interfaces out there, i dont see why they wont make something for this one too for some extra bucks.

The njm4580 is hardly better than the 072, however mediocre chips can sound great in the right design.

The 48kHz limit is a result of using the ADAT interface. So unless they implement AES/EBU or SMUX then I am assuming it will have the same sample rate limitation, from the picture posted it doesn't appear that either of these have been I implemented in the new design.

If they had put the connectors on the rear, as it now it makes the rack too full of cables hqanging out on the front.

I honestly did not know that. I'm glad I just picked up a MH 2882 which has enough Ins to record drums with...

The sound of the Lynx only supports the idea that it isn't a great chip.

do people not understand how fast technology is evolving?

The conversion war is soon to be dead for rational, sane people.

I for one am thankful.

Sad, you obviously never had or used the original.

How about -20db Pad's? It would be nice if they added those.

Between a new Mac Mini and some other things I'm waiting to be released I might as
well save my cash and wait for this too especially as it's likely that BLA will surely
mod this as well.

I agree, I call it "brand" prejudice. I'm also one of the ones wishing for a 96khz version ;-)
I'm getting one for my mobile studio.

A db25 connection on the back that you could buy an AES snake for. Like the original Mackie Onyx 800r.

Bump.

Any word on when this will be released?

I need some ADAT expansion soon but don't wanna bother with the 8000 if this one is better built against the heat issue...
