Software OverToneDSP ports plugins to Mac OS X

Following on from the OverTone ports to Windows of the highly successful linuxDSP plugins, originally developed for linux DAWs, selected plugins are now being ported to Mac OS X. The first of these is the PTC-2A Pultec style EQ. Free demo available here:

OverToneDSP Vintage Program EQ for Windows and Mac OS X

Requires Mac OS X v.10.5 or later and an AU compatible host application (cocoa UI only). available as 32 and 64Bit (universal 'fat' binary)

No hardware copy protection / iLok. The activation code is valid for Mac and Windows versions.

You should find it works on 32 or 64Bit e.g. it's built as a universal 32 / 64Bit binary. There was a problem with 64Bit in V1.0.0 so make sure you have the latest release, if you have problems on 64Bit please let us know - its most likely easier to fix such problems if you email the support link on the website, at OverTone DSP rather than trying to diagnose the problem on a forum.

OH I found that. AU version crashes Live and Logic right after inserting to track. It seems to be a problem of demo mode....

Which version are you using? The latest is V1.0.2 it passes AUvalidation tests (64 and 32Bit) and we haven't seen any problems in Logic and other hosts (demo mode and the full version), if you can contact us via the Contact Us email link on the site it would be easier to diagnose the problem and if necessary issue a fix.

We're working on porting the other (Windows) plugins to Mac at the moment, so I hope they will be ready in about a month. Some changes have had to be made to the Mac (cocoa) port of our UI 'engine' which have taken longer than expected. There is also now a new release (V1.0.3) of the PTC-2A which should fix an issue with the demo mode splash-screen which occurred with some (64Bit) hosts.

This is a very good color EQ, especially for guitars but also for drums and bass. I prefer it to the UAD Pultecs. I don't have the Waves or Softube versions but have demoed them and wasn't as impressed as I am by this.

It's one of the few Native EQs I've heard that compares favorably to the Nebula EQs including the Pultec-style emulations by AITB which I have. I was skeptical about needing another Pultec, but after demoing, I bought because it really helped a (rock) mix on those three major instruments.

I'm really looking forward to their parametric and their compressor coming out for Mac. Hurry up guys
