Cool! I don't see a demo version offered yet, though... on the demo page there is no checkbox for the ML4000...

Looks cool I wonder how it stacks up agains Waves LMB (which is a really great Comp). Slowing the competition is chipping way at my Diamond Bundle - I can hardly wait to to dump all my Waves stuff.

Just from the information provided, compared to the Lin MB:

LinMB is phase-linear. The ML4000 is not (or is not pushing that feature if it is).
LinMB is fixed at five bands. The ML4000 has either four or one.
LinMB is primarily a multi-band compressor where as ML4000 appears to be selling itself more as a limiter, though on the multiband version, the limiter seems secondary to all the other stuff.

But on the other side of the coin, the ML4000 appears to be incredibly flexible in terms of a gate, expander and compressor on each band, all totally independent of each other. And then a single band limiter with adjustable knee on the back of all that. Holy crap - you could do some real damage with this thing! <g>

Colin's really got the dynamics thing down. The 5.1 compressor in the Channel G is insane in terms of functionality, and graphically (if not anywhere else) this design follows on from that.

As a limiter, the knee control puts it more in line with the more recent plugin limiters like the Sony that provide a little bit of a buffer before you finally hit the wall.

Let's see how it goes!

What's the point in their plugs being more popular if that's come from cracks? If I made plugs and 90% of users were using cracks, I'd be pissed off AND poor. Every time copy protection gets in my way I think about this and forgive them.

Sorry ... almost derailed the thread!

Anyways..

I dont wanna sound rude, but i dont care if they get cracked or not (of course) i'm not supporting the act or the cracks but all i wish is that one day they get to consider Vst users. That would be great...

Truly if one of the guyz at Mcdsp read this, please let us know why or if one day this will be possible

Thanx again

If you look to the left hand side on the page of that link, there is new images for their bundles and there appears to be an Emrald Pack Native version. However the listing isn't on their products page.

Hopefully they do what soundtoys have done and release a cheap Native version of the Emrald pack. Maybe it is just imaging for the webpage but it is also listed in the feature comparison list with a seperate Native version that is included in the Native version of the Emrald pack(with no link to it). Maybe it will be a midrange priced version.

AU format would be great too. Soundtoys, Sony Oxford are the plugins I wish for most in AU format.

Just a quick follow up, this is from the digidesign link:

"The ML4000 will ship in July of 2006. Retail price is $495 (USD). The ML4000 is also available in the Emerald Pack HD ($2695) and Emerald Pack Native ($1395) plug-in bundles."

I think it's fair to say that he's more than a little over-biased. However, I agree wholeheartedly that his stuff should be more widely accessible. I'm quite ticked about it, actually. The FilterBank and CompressorBank plugs, not to mention AC, are essentials in my book. As much as he would like me to believe, I don't need PT system to create great music, even if I don't have access to his plugs.

McDSP already uses the iLok. Waves, URS, and others put their AU's on it. AFAIK, it hasn't been cracked yet, so I doubt that piracy is an issue.

Wouldn't it - perhaps - be more fair to say that the man is "right at home" programming for the the TDM platform? Inspector Harry Callahan comes to mind... "Man's got to know his limitations." Perhaps that is the case and a "limitation" has successfully been turned into an asset. Just a late night thought...

Are they making native bundles now? Sweet!

if you think that there arnt cracked versions of McDSP plug-ins you are very wrong although it certainly isnt wide spread like the waves plugs

bringing in native bundles is overdue and im glad they are finally doing it. the LE versions are to limited.

i wonder how this thing compared to the MC2000

Well, I was talking about the iLok, but I may still be wrong.

Moogman, I maintain my position about Colin because even if he only prefers one plugin API/IDE, he should have the resources by now to have someone else handle the AUs and VSTs. That is, unless Digi has him chained to the bed.

Do you think they will release a Native version of the Channel G?

There will be a Native version of the Emerald pack. I wonder if this will include Channel G.

developing AU/VST as well isn’t very different from many manufactures not wanting to cross the MAC/PC divide. if the demand is there it will eventually happen for most plug-ins. when is revolver going to be available for windows?

apart from resetting the dates of demo plug-ins on an ilok the ilok its self is secure but most people using cracked plug-ins simply go around the ilok.

there wont be a native version of channel G yet, although hopefully one is being developed. all the other plugs run as both RTAS and TDM, the new native bundles just dont include the TDM versions, channel G currently only runs on TDM there is not an RTAS version to put in the native bundles.

My sentiments exactly.

I got an MBOX just to get access to these things but having to use Pro-Tools.....is difficult, I much prefer logic.

No difficult as in it confuses me, rather I just don't like it.

However, the MCDSP plugs ( I have been using the demos) are excellent.

AU, please..

That reset loophole was fixed awhile ago and all the new PT7 demos will be secure from that, there are no demos at this time,

go around the iLok ? what does that mean, not use any ProTools plug-ins ?

Bastards.

I fully agree with whoever said that they will not port because of digidesign.

Just a little update:

Their website says "Estimated ship date: August 2006."

For TDM, you can run up to 3 mono instances of the ML4 (or 2 stereo instances) on an HD Accel card.

Truly powerful, those Accel cards...truly...

It's 2-3 per chip not per card.
