Glad to be of (best)service .

No seriously though, I did some testing yesterday with the grand channel. Only 10 minutes or so.
And even though I alleady bought the thing I was sold!!
Seriously good sounding plug. I think this will replace uad pulteq on the master and my la2a's and oxford eq on the vocal.
Just one thing: it is eating cpu. (almost 9% on my quad core q9400). Good thing i will be upgrading my pc later this year.
Together with the slate tape plug. The next generation of cpu hungry plugs have arrived. But who cares if they sound that good.
I was just wondering. Does the summit channel uses upsampling?
I am planning on going the 88.2khz route.

On a MBP 2.4 i5 8g Ram running PT9 - I'm seeing about a 10% hit on the first instance, and 2% on the next.

Didn't have much time today, but I ran a dry 5 voice group sing (we do jingles) through the channel and came up with some great results. Really like the eq and the fact you get each plugin separate as well.

Maybe my plug-in buy of the year.

Been reading this thread.. so i bought the Grand Channel without
demoing it.
Anybody else noticed the compressor killing a bit of the top end even when it hardly touches the signal? And even without the saturation.
Somebody wrote he/she can boost a hell of a lot and it still sounds great (not exactly these words). I feel i have to boost quite a lot to hear something happening.
So far i seem to be the only one experiencing this?
Cheers

Couldn't resist so I just got it with the promo code. I loved the demo but was just a little too steep for me right now. In the US this comes out to $164.04 with the promo.

Nope it's killing it here, too.

The TLA-100A hardware does the same thing. Use the wet/dry to dial some back in. It's described as smooth. Smooth = rolling the top end off.

I'm one of those guys who has no idea about engineering (composing is time consuming enough) and I really don't like spending a lot of time tweaking Eq's and compressors. Channel strips are great for people like me but up until now i've found it very difficult to get anywhere near the same kind of sound on my own as the engineers I work with... until now The Grand Channel is super easy to use and has given me a new perspective on mixing. I'm finding myself actually looking forward to tweaking vocals etc. I know this sounds like an advertising testimonial for washing powder but I really am enjoying a process that I normally try to avoid. My 2 cents.

I still have 19 days on the demo for this but I really do love it that much that I would be kicking myself for not getting it now at this low price.

Wow, thanks for that. I used it last night to grab both the Summit Grand Channel and the TSAR 1 together. They're both guns!

Everyone's loving the EQ but I was more taken with the compressor. Very very smooth. It's one of those "you don't really hear it" type compressors that you can push hard. It eats the top end a little as has been said, but you can compensate for that.

Thanks for making these.

Alright all you gearslutz. I just don't feel like I need this comp. I've already got V-Comp, H-Comp, CLA-LA2A, CLA-1176, CLA-LA3A, Cytomic the Glue, UBK-1, Soundtoys Devil-Loc, Waves L1, Waves C-1, Waves RComp, and Waves C4 for dynamics.

Can anyone convince that this fills a compressor void I don't have? I've used the hardware and unless this plug-in somehow BLOWS AWAY my LA3A/LA2A I don't feel like I need it. Not very slutty of me I know

I saw some of you say it is used more than your LA2A. Please elaborate on it's color and why I should try it out I'd demo it, but sometimes the first impressive impression changes after a few weeks of using gear so I'd like some seasoned advice on this plug.

You can demo it for 20 days... I'm sure the first flush of enthusiasm subsides after a couple of weeks use. I also have loads of channel strips and compressors (all software) and find the Summit Grand Channel sonically miles ahead of anything else I possess. But as they say 'The proof of the pudding is in the eating.' Wether you need it (considering your impressive collection of compressors) is something only you can answer but I'm sure you will like the Grand Channel and as an extra bonus the EQ and Saturater are also really very good. As I said before in this thread (although I've been pro for more than 30 years)... I'm not the engineer type but with this plug it's very easy to get a great sound. Hope my engineer is not reading this

Well, how many compressors do you need?
I have seen many get amazing results with just Logic stock plugins and a good idea. Not that the tools aren't getting better all the time, but maybe we overestimate the contribution of the tools in the music making process?

I frequently fall into the gearslut trap of thinking another peice of gear will solve my musical problems. I try to remind myself that I would rather be a really good musician and engineer with decent tools (which include many plugins I already have), than mediocre wannabe with a killer arsenal.

I use the compressor for the saturation as much as anything else. Can't hurt to try the demo... or can it.

Here's a track I just released. It has the Grand Channel all over it. Used it in mixing on bass, vocals, guitars, keys and stereo buss. Also used it in the mastering chain.

I used to own the Summit Audio TD100 tube DI, which I mainly used for bass. When the saturation drive light on that unit used to light up it reminds me very much of sound you get when the saturation light on the Grand Channel lights up, FWIW.
