8DIO Adagio Update: "Help Us Design Adagio Violins Vol. 2"

Come help us design Adagio Violins Vol. 2 - we are starting the production of the next volume soon - and want your input to ensure we have covered everything.

Please note this is NOT related to our forthcoming 1.1 update of Adagio Violins 1. This post is for the design of Adagio Violins Vol. 2, which is completely separate project.

We will keep the doors open until next Wednesday for feedback. So fly over to our site and give your input -> Adagio Violins Vol. 2 Design | 8DIO Productions

Go check out Adagio Violins Vol. 1:

Hi-

I bought Adagio and have not been able to get everything working properly. (along w many others, as you know, hence the update)

It's relatively buggy for a 1.0 release and being that it was also relatively expensive, I was wondering if you can please post a release date for the update.

Also, can you please specify the issues and bugs you guys are working on?

I've emailed support with some of the specific issues...and received a work around to one of the bugs. This was a while ago.

I love your company! I have Adagio, Steinway, Requiem and a few others.

I look fwd to using Adagio bug-free! (:

Thanks,

Scott

They originally said the bug fix update was going to be the last week of May or first week June. Obviously that has come to pass.

Ya I saw that...thx Animus.

I really do love 8DIO (in fact I think I started a thread about it a while ago) but for me, when I spend a certain amount of money on a product and it doesn't work properly, I really like to know that the dev is on top of it.

I also feel it's their obligation to keep those who paid informed of the update progress as well as the specifics they're working on (in an effort to make sure we all get our SW bugs fixed) when their product does not work properly and of course returns aren't accepted.

I dont like when companies are very 'hush hush' about a buggy release. Not that 8DIO is acting totally 'hush hush'.....but, as a paying customer (and these products ain't cheap)....I'd like to know what's going on...perhaps in an effort to make sure I didn't just throw my money away.

Lastly, for both FX and VI's, I feel like I've been experiencing buggier 1.0 releases than ought to be the norm. They've come from various companies over the past couple years...just seems to be a lot of rushing Betas out to the public...and letting the public unknowingly Beta Test after purchasing. And I don't really have time for that.

And I wanna dig into this VI....but can't.

Cheers,

Scott

I am sure they will get things fixed. Like who in the hell will buy their Cellos and Violins Vol2 if they don't. I know they have gotten a lot of shit over Requiem Pro in not releasing any bugfix and feature updates for it in forever whereas my Requiem Lite has gotten 3 updates in the past 9 months from Soundiron.

Yeah I sure hope it gets fixed.

I think the fact they were asking for ideas on Vol. 2 (and thereby telling us that's what they are working on...not to mention we all know they're working on Cellos) is what prompted my post.

I know the company is small (2 people??) and I'd appreciate them spending their time (as in all or most of it) making sure products they've already sold are FULLY functioning before announcing a brand new product / revenue stream. (ESP a 'Vol 2' of a 'Vol 1' product that was literally released weeks ago) Kinda makes you wonder what was so obviously left out that they announced v2 immediately after. Just kinda weird.

Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I guess.

8DIO- be great to hear from you about the status of Adagio Vol 1.

Thx

Scott

My Recordings/Credits

Yeah, I hear you. Seems really quick to announce a Vol. 2 when there are several issues which are supposedly being addressed in the meantime. I would much rather have the sample set I already bought working fully than to have a second set which may or may not be released with similar issues. Any word on the update?

This is a curiously cheerful, tone-deaf move from a company I generally think well of.

Like, why would we discuss Violins 2?

Why would that be on anyone's mind?

Fix 1 and bring on the cellos.

Don't be weird.

Cellos. Cellos. Cellos. where would violins 2 even need to go? V1 is great! Fix the lil bugs, and concentrate on Cellos!

I can understand why they would do this. It takes quite awhile to plan and record a session, and much longer to do the post work to make all the patches etc.. They probably simply wanted to get people's input before they did the recording sessions for Vol 2. Asking later would be too late.

Haha...hopefully not.

I just posted on their FB page letting them know that there's questions on the GS thread they started.

Haha...I deleted that post because to be honest I'm not sure what just happened.

I'm givin' em the benefit of the doubt...could've been my bad on the FB thing.

Anyways, they need to respond to this thread. It's been long enough.

Thank you for responding.

Can you please be a bit more specific?

--What issues / bugs are you working on? (this being the main issue so we could let you know of problems you may not be aware of)

--Estimated release date?

8DIO, one thing to keep in mind is that you guys are selling a non-refundable product (which I realize is normal for software). You also don't offer demos.

In other words, I paid you 5 months ago (pre-order) for a product that you have not delivered in full working, as advertised form- I cannot use it till you fix it...not in the way I want to nor in the way it's intended to be used. And my main issue w this is that the release date for the update has passed and it's been silence from you guys. Actually worse than silence, you've been asking for ideas on v.2 of this product.

Please give us a more specific update.

Thx,

Scott

funny how a combination of Google and Gearslutz has changed how and why we buy stuff..
as i scan available info' and sales blurb..my final decision is always influenced by user feedback...and any glimmer of discontent moves me past the product amazingly fast.
what was at one moment getting all my attention falls off the radar in an instant!

i like these violins though and the update will make all the patches behave as they should.

Interesting. Me too.

I remember seeing a LASS v Hollywood Strings and it's infamous Play Engine sometime ago...

Well I tell you one thing - I am not going to invest in any EW stuff soon, that 'Non-Play Engine' is well dodgy and inefficient.

Am looking forward to the libraries from 8Dio, they do sound very good.

However I am a bit concerned about the eventual price add-up of 5 string libraries. (2 Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass).
That's a lot of shmoola compared to LASS - and LASS works...

Eventually I guess they may bundle the lot for a competitive price though...

I wanna be clear that I love this set and I fully respect this company. It's extraordinary stuff. I just thought this "Hey! We just dropped this thing and, sure, it needs some work, but...Let's talk about the sequel!" thing was an awkward, sunstroke moment for them. Suggested crossed wires or something. Strange disconnect.

In general, it's fantastic work they are doing and they fully have my faith that the (relatively minor) problems will be solved soon.
