Thread Starter | elysia releases nvelope 500
Today is a wonderful day.
After one and a half years of intense development, we are very proud to release our latest 500 series stunt: the nvelope 500!
This two-space stereo dynamics processor is capable of making subtle or drastic changes to a sound by altering its impulse structure,
providing direct control over the envelope of a signal by shaping the intensity of its attack and sustain.
It is primarily intended to shape individual signals, but it can be an indispensable resource in mixing applications as well,
as it can subtly shift a sound towards the front of the mix using more attack and less sustain,
or blend it gently into the background by reducing its attack and increasing its sustain.
The nvelope 500 gives you three different modes:
- Full Range mode for fast and efficient envelope shaping
- Dual Band mode for more tweakability with individual frequency controls
- EQ mode, which provides sweet sounding high and low shelf filters as well
The nvelope 500 offers true dual mono or linked stereo operation in Full Range, Dual Band or EQ mode. Yes, all three modes can be linked.
And this also means that you can run the individual channels in completely different modes at the same time.
It works great with many different instruments such as drums, percussion, bass, edgy guitar, acoustic piano.
Generally speaking, the impulse shaping process works optimally on audio signals with a significant/percussive attack structure.
But the tracking of the nvelope 500 is so amazing that finally envelope shaping can be used on complex material like busses or even complete mixes as well, without generating any artifacts you don't want.
Please visit our website www.elysia.com for all the details. We have prepared a nice demo video and many sound examples for you.
Please do yourself the favor and play them on decent speakers ;-)
The nvelope 500 is made in Germany exclusively using top quality components, gold plated PCBs, a rugged 4mm aluminum front panel and solid aluminum knobs.
And we managed to keep it at the price of our number one bestseller, the xpressor 500. It is available right now, and the price is $975.
Enjoy it!
All the best,
Dominik

PS: From your point of (seller's) view: Why should I buy this when I already got a Transient Designer 4?

It's like a next generation transient designer that can be a stereo high and low shelf EQ. And it's either dual mono OR linked stereo AND it's under $1000? You guys are amazing. At that price, I'd buy two just to keep one in TD mode and one in EQ mode!
Crazy. Sick. And I love that you guys don't play waiting games with silly announcements or pre-orders that stretch out over months. You make an announcement when you're already shipping! That's how professionals do it.
Regards,
Frank

I'm going to pick up a lunch box at the end of the year. I will be filling it next year. Would like to get one of these. How much will it cost?

Speechless, after watching the video
the only thing to say is Elysia doesn't only makes top notch
gear, it brings a whole new and fresh approach to mixing with things
like this.. Xpressor did it already for me and having that one I can
picture a shedload of cool things I could do with this one, I'm sold
If the first part of the vid wasn't enough (and it was) what it did to
those guitars followed by kick & snare was pretty crazy.
Quick questions for Dom:
in EQ mode is there any dynamic behavior going on? Is actually a static eq?
Attack and sustain (when not in eq mode): I assume the level you hit the envelope500
sets the threshold, right? Or are they a combo of threshold + gain?
Meaning, if you activate the channel(s) leaving Attack/Sustain at unity, is there gonna be any processing going on?
Hard to explain, I'm asking because this is something I've never liked about the TD,
hitting it hard it does process much more then just the transient and makes it hard to use (that and it runs out of headroom easily-ish..)
The E500 doesn't seem to behave that way - which is good! - but yeah, if you can chime in that'd be cool
congrats to Elysia, another fantastic product! It'll look great next to my xPressor |

The video and the sound samples are great. It seems that you made an awesome new gear. But it's nothing for me. As I stated I already own a Transient Designer 4 and I use it only on single tracks. Can't justify another enveloper...
If there wouldn't be a huge black hole in my wallet I'd buy it instantly, so I decide for the Xpressor 500, if you don't mind |

A smarter, more flexible, sexier Transient Designer at a fantastic price.
No way I am not buying this.

Congrats Dominik,
German engineering at its best,
need a new lunchbox but this will be the first module i buy to sit alongside the elder brother the xpressor.
dual mono, linked stereo , shelf eq, im only thinking of the amount of sheer options and how many variations to dial in a specific sound.
this is everything i expected from you guys but a whole lot more,
thumbs up,
Send Ruben my regards, he never ceases to amaze me.

Wow ,
Add this next to an Xpressor and you'd have a great , versatile tracking/2 buss compressor . The Xpressor is already that but the combination of the two , wow ! Nice work ! Thanks for keeping it at such a killer price point also .

Thanks Gil, it's on our site and I'm playing an order with WAVE now.
I love the no-bullshit launches, I wish everybody would realize that waiting and waiting and talking and waiting actually HURTS a product launch.
Bravo, can't wait to put it in the Clipalator this week!

Hi guys,
Thanks so much for all the kind words!
Oh yes, this thing is so much fun to use, and it sounds incredible.
Here are some answers to the questions I have spotted so far: Is there any dynamic behavior going on in EQ mode?
No. The dynamics sections are bypassed in EQ mode.
The nvelope 500 then becomes a static stereo high/low shelf filter.
What's cool is that this EQ can also be run dual mono or stereo linked. If you leave Attack/Sustain at unity, is there going to be any processing at all?
No. You can consider the mid position of the gain controllers as a virtual bypass.
This is also the reason why these pots have a single center detent, while the frequency pots have 41 steps.
Should you want to only process one of the parameters, the other one won't be in the way at all.
Is there going to be a 19“ version, and if so: When?
Yes. It's definitively on the agenda.
It will sit in the same light-weight, full aluminum enclosure as the rack version of the xpressor.
And it'll come with the same high performance linear power supply as well.
It's not going to happen right now, but it's scheduled around late August.
Which one should I get – the xpressor or the nvelope?
This is easy to answer. Both.
Keep them coming!

Dominik | Thanks Dom,
sounds great, I was hoping to hear that
Again, sounds like a killer unit, can't wait to get one!
As for having both: for me having the xPressor makes me want to have this one even more
