The acoustic was tracked with reissue 1176LN hardware, using probably these same settings for reference. So you'll actually be hearing approx 10db GR
Might be easy to put in your Daw and loop to check it out real quick. The new plugins are certainly grabbier, and during my first test sounded alot more like my hardware UA 1176LN's. | Could you post the dry signal, too? Please |

$149 for the update is "fair" but I wouldn't say it is great as well. | You also lose the use of your UAD-1 as part of the so called $149 bargain for that alone UA should compensate you by giving you the new comps for free.

it seems like this is quite a big year for UAD...maybe there will be more deals along the way?
it took me many years to get on board and i missed the UAD 1...it was good for it's day...but has to go.
its is an expensive platform to invest in for sure...i got 2 uad 2's over the last year and most of the plugins aND then they drop the apollo!??!!?
Oh well...such is life...too short to worry about all that.

I've gone from UAD envy, to user/fanboi, to apologist, to...disgusted. I'm done with them.

With their money grabbing model, UAD are leaving the door wide open for the competition. Keep on fleecing us and we will end up looking elsewhere.

well i dont even like the 1176 anyway, i think it sounds like garbage. so I don't know why this annoyed me so much. im an LA3A/LA2A guy.
It prob has something to do with UA not really being "mom'n'pop" anymore. I'm fiercely DIY. Deep breath, let it go...:0

Btw, this is the reason printing plugs with Apollo is stupid. | What would be stupid would be not finishing and releasing projects because you're afraid a slightly better sounding plug-in version might come along...

Not to mention, if I was using that much GR, I would probably eq some of that low out of the guitar too...plus, 1176's are supposed to be dirty and aggressive

Just took it for a little ride....
Wow....
I have heard and worked with numerous hardware and software incarnations....
They sound and behave pretty damn good to me....Best 1176 ITB so far imho.
Also has things like the strange effects that occur when tweaking or choosing different button combinations.
It has an instant yeah factor.....
Great work UA.
To all the complainers:
This will get you extremely close if not indistinguishable from the real deal for a fraction of the price.
plus all the usual advantages of plugin world.....
ITB is becoming more fantastic every day.

So they're basically saying the old one fails to emulate things properly? | You didn't know that? I thought everybody knew that the earlier UAD plugins are very limited. Amazing what marketing does, eh?
Look at the pultec. It has absolutely no modeling of the actual TUBE in the unit. It only models the EQ curves. Lets hope they revisit this one as well.. and the LA-2A.
Cheers!

bManic | This somehow diminishes the practical power of the uad-2 by 2.5 -> You need to buy a new quad/apollo |

I gotta say, after vigorously testing all the emulations out there (and against the hardware) they have pretty much cracked it now!!
Awesome stuff and at $149 a simple no brainer!
Big up the UA crew!

I'm sure they will catch all of those old ones up now. I'll demo on some down time on Saturday. Until then I will wade through the endless, "this is the best ever" comments that come with the release of every new plug by every company. |

yeah..to go from a possible 40 sterio instances to 12 of the new ones is a big indicator of where it is all going.....but i would not say it is a problem as i only need a few really....
the new ones seem juicy!
completely different actually....
it's like the old ones did not work or something...I JUST DON'T GET IT...?
THE GAIN STRUCTURE SEEMS SO DIFFERENT....
swap to the new ones and it's like...ahh...it's working now...!
push the old ones to get very close ...
gonna take time to really evaluate whats going on here...
well done UAD...

bManic | Agreed!! I'd be happy to 'upgrade' all the modeled plugins if they incorporated full circuit modeling.. (channel strips, eq's, etc) |

I've gone from UAD envy, to user/fanboi, to apologist, to...disgusted. I'm done with them. | Exactly, the 1176 SE came with my card... the 1176LN was a PAID product for a lot of us...
