Pro Tools HD Card for the Mytek 8x192 is Available

Hello all,

I just wanted to make a quick post to let you all know that the much anticipated Pro Tools HD interface card for our new 8x192 converter is now available. The HD card fits into one of the two MDM slots on the back of the 8x192 and provides direct connection to Pro Tools HD, eliminating the need for any other interface. It is compatable with Pro Tools 6 or 7, and is in stock and ready to ship. If there are any questions at all please let me know. Thanks.

@ticus!!

Does it pretend it's a 192? can you change rates/depths with the software? Does it function automatically with ProTools delay compensation?

Does this unit come equipped with both AES and SPDIF or either only?

What is the best way to connect this unit to a 002?

The 8x192 has AES outs standard, and they can easily be wired to connect to an unbalanced connection, a la S/PDIF. The easiest way to connect the 8x192 is to install the ADAT card in it and connect it via the optical inputs on the 002. Thanks.

sounds like good news ... for us that would like a change in sonics to a different flavor .. hope the ADC works .. that has been the biggest improvement from Digi in a long time ..

Hello,
Does this mean that it will need some manual adjustments like the apogees after all?...

The Mytek HD combo is nowhere near twice the price of the Apogee combo. When comparing list prices the Apogee setup is $3590, whereas the Mytek solution is $4290. This $700 difference gets you a built in analog summing buss, six wordclock outputs, and seperate stereo XLR outputs for monitoring any of the stereo pairs through a stepped attenuator, not to mention the ability to upgrade the unit to full DSD capability should that need arise. We also throw in a very good clock, so you don't need to use the external clock we sell to make it sound better...

Hope this cleared some things up. Thanks.

The unit has 4 pairs of AES, but these DIO will both read and transmit signal that's recognizable as SPDIF. A simple adapter RCA > pin 2 and 3 of XLR does the job.

Hello Dave

It essentially pretends to be HD192 and the rates and other available functions are adjusted in software.

The system thinks it's HD192 and you can use it as direct replacement so for example one Digi card can handle 2 Myteks, an HD192 and a Mytek or 2 HD192's.

Hi Michal,

That's great to hear. Does it also operate with the same number of samples of latency as a 192? Or, does it report its own delay to the software somehow?

In other words, does it function like a 192 within Pro Tools' automatic delay compensation feature?

Thanks!!

No, The unit is 8 in , 8 outs. You only get 8 outs but they are more than twice as good compared to 16 outs you could get with HD192 (addtnl 8 outs is an option on HD192).

I'm now working with the engineer who developed the driver on specific printed instructions for the card which will be included as additional page(s) in the 8X192ADDA manual. Pls give me a bit of time to sort out all this info so I can reply accurately.

Regards, Michal

Just wanted to tell everybody interested, this and other operational extras are being implemented in the new firmware that should be available (along with manual for the HD DIO Card) before AES Show.

Actually I'm told by the engineer in charge the DSD card is ready and will be demonstrated at upcoming AES Show.

Listening tests tell us we have the best sounding DSD ADDA on the market.

I scanned the Manual how does it interface with 192's in the same system?
Do the 192's need to be first? or the Mytek's first? What about Loop Sync seting on the 192's?
There is no mention of the ADC settings (I/O setup window) for the Mytek when using as inserts for PT.
Will the Myteks be controlled by the software in Delay Compensation I/O function?

My engineer tells me this will be added in the next firmware revision. For now you could adjust delay manually using a spike.
