Looks good to me! What I don't understand, how does the signal path stay fully balanced (as the text says) when it goes through the input transformer?

I think the term they use is differential, when one DOA is pushing, the other is pulling

Hey All,

Thanks for the interest. The pre has been a lot of work and yes it's named after my dog.

The pre is fully differential, a simplified block diagram can be found here:
http://www.hairballaudio.com/diy_images/Lola-Block.jpg

The faceplace is a nod to the old Neve 1073 input, a clone of which is used in this pre. They were finished with a hammered paint. The finish is very cool in person and the text size has already been increased for the production faceplate (a prototype is pictured).

Details can be found at
Hairball Audio - Lola Mic Pre

Thanks!

Mike

Thank you, Mike! One day I will build a Hairball 1176. Your kits are sooo tempting. (just back from the Hairball site) Whoa! Nearly everything out of stock... you will restock, huh?

Hey,

Yep I'm out of enclosures for the compressor kits. I should have plenty of both blackface and bluestripe on March 1st.

Thanks!

Mike
