SamplesLoops Galaxy X Now Available

Hey Zephonic,

thanks for bringing up the Galaxy X here on GS. It’s our newest development and the first virtual instrument that is not a sampled piano. Let me give a quick overview of Galaxy X:

• Galaxy X is a virtual instrument using FX Convolution (new synthesis form for an exciting kind of sound design)
• Three individual instrument types are included: X-Keys, X-FX and X-Loops (also sold separately as downloads)
• Intuitive user interface for easy editing and complex sound design
• 15GB of Source Sounds and over 1400 Convolution X-Files that alter the sound of the sources
• More than 1000 ready-to-play Instrument Layers (instant presets)
• Easy dynamic use of convolution using the Mod Wheel
• To be used for Score Music and all kinds of sound design (tv, film, games,…), as well as all modern styles of music production (electronic music, progressive, pop,…)

Have a look and listen:

I was actually going to post the news today, but you’ve been quicker
Well, I still have more news: The Galaxy X has been released and is available for download through Best Services’ “Sounds on Demand” today. Boxed versions will be shipping on the 30th of January 2012.

Feel free to ask me anything you’d like to know about the X.

Cheers,
Stephan

This definitely looks interesting. What I would find especially useful in a product like this is the ability to create/import my own samples/impulses to use in the engine. Can Galaxy X do this?

SamplesLoops Use you own samples with the X-Engine

Yes, it is possible to load up to 25 samples per layer in engine. There is a dialog in the layer, in which you can choose samples and assign one or more keys to each sample. This may seem a bit limited, but the 25 samples limit only refers to the Engine player, which comes free with Galaxy X (like the basic sample-players included with most libraries).
Once you’ve gotten the Galaxy X, you could also upgrade to Yellow Tools' Independence Pro for 29€ to get free access to the mapping, editing within the mapping editor included. So you basically get a full sampler with the upgrade and you can do whatever you’d like to

Cheers,
Stephan

SamplesLoops Drumloops and tempo sync included

Yeah, the Galaxy X does drum loops and matches the tempo of them in your DAW project (or manual in stand-alone mode). To set the tempo and sync your own loops, you need to get the Independence upgrade, so you can get deeper into the mapping. The Engine player just has the ability to load samples and that's about it, while Independence is a full sampler.
But I should mention that the Galaxy X is not meant to be an effect plug-in, where you would load your own samples and have many tools to alter them. Galaxy X comes with over 15GB of sampled Source Sounds and specifically designed and selected impulses responses that work well together. We think that the preset layers should inspire your creativity and help you to develop new ideas or extend existing ones…
The X-Loops instrument consists mostly of drum, percussion and rhythmic effect sounds (there are a few tonal sources as well), but these are not your regular ones. We have sampled acoustic drums that sound like a dance-machine, there are beatbox and human loops, electronic beats, circuit bent and noisy grooves and percussion loops ranging from the smallest shakers to the largest djembes… So loads of fun stuff to play around with

Cheers,
Stephan

SamplesLoops Audio-Demos online

We finished the first audio-demos today, so now there's finally something else to listen to besides the background music from the video trailer. There are four tracks from different styles of music and more will follow soon to paint the whole picture and to show what Galaxy X is capable of.
Just give it a listen and let me know what you think.
