Yeah!
USB-cables and jacks have proven to be extremely realiable in an onstage environment
- so for Alesis this had to be the next logical step to do!

D'oh!

Now we can all pretend we are Futureman. Flecktones // Bio - Futureman

All hail the '80s. Where can I find a 20 foot USB cable to rock out on stage with?

Hey, at least there's now a 3-octave keytar (shortly) available (with aftertouch!!) that doesn't cost a stupid amount of money.

That Roland Lucina thing is simply ridiculous at the best part of ~£400!

Fair enough - but you're still playing a keytar

Did anyone notice the labels are all from the players perspective, but the LED screen is from the audience? the picture on the alesis site the number is 110 (which could be read either way) but on the sweetwater site it's 037... wonder which way it is (I'm guess the 037 is wrong?)

10-year-old me would have thought this was the hottest thing ever in 1987.

I would guess the "037" is actually "LED" from the player's perspective.

BTW... just reading this post because I think keytars are funny. You know... just so no one thinks I'm so uncool as to be seriously looking at keytars.

Also, I'm apparently out of anything worthwhile to do.

I never understood why people didn't like keytars. I think they're kind of cool. Then again, I like unusual crap most of the time.

Someone should make a little arm with pitch bend and mod wheel that plugs into the ipad dock connector, and then an app with a keyboard on it and you could have ipad keytar!!!!

Well, the fact is... the ribbon controller, in the hand position that it's in (versus a regular keyboard), is VERY useful. It's much more expressive. That's true of all Keytars.

Secondly, the fact that this thing has a sustain pedal jack is huge. I just wish it were 49 keys instead of 37.

While I think it is kinda ridiculous to sling these things over your shoulder as though you were playing it like a guitar, I have mounted mine to an Embrace. Which allows me to make an immediate switch to it when I want to solo, and then back to playing or singing.

To each his own. There is a use for everything. You just have to open your mind a little bit. It's a tool.

Hey, we dorks have to jam on *something*. It's not fair that we're shackled to synth racks while Gee-taurists get first pick of the groupies.
