Heritage Audio

Where are you located, who are you, who is behind this brand? I can't find any information in the web, I know you just entered the market. There are just email addresses, nothing more.

I don't know...

I did read that on your site but when you mentioned "looking for a dealer" hopefully that doesn't lead to an exclusive agreement with a certain dealer and higher controlled pricing. The 2264 looks great. Looking forward to learning more about your company.

Hi, we are working fast to make racks, frames and PSUs to fit our modules in, probably in 6 weeks time, 2 month maximum, will let you know.

I´m afraid special offer will expire very soon... blame the dealers...

So it looks like everything is going up about 40-50%. I have to be honest, I've gone from excited to not interested.

When does the offer end?

good stuff costs a lot! You cant buy a ferrari for a price of the fiat...
I mean those are built like a AMS and the BAE's that cost the same or maybe more! For what i heard those guys have great ideas for the future so the BAE and AMS are not alone anymore!

You sure your description is correct? I thought the 2254 was originally class A/B based on the 1272 line amp and the 2264 was class A? Did you make this 2264E class A/B instead? So it's not an accurate replica?!?!

The name code 2264 had me there for a while... As far as I understand this one is a 2254 with the gain control circuit of the original 2264 with shorter recovery times. It´s all there in the web page!

But see it as you wish... according to Geoff Tanner (in another thread about Neves) the orginal Neve 2264 had a 440amp (like on a 1073*)- at least as I undertood it. This amp (or other) is clearly missing in the 2264E from Heritage Audio if you look at the photos.

* - CORRECTION: Geoff Tanner never said "like on a 1073", see post #24 below

So I think this is a "better" 2264. Not a 2254, nor a 2264 replica... probably what Heritage Audio thought what the follower of the 2264 should have been. And so they called it 2264E (for Evolution?)

Comparing it to the new AMS-Neve 2264a would be interesting, but they are different in their essence. The 2264a from AMS-Neve has that 440amp (or equivalent) which is missing in the 2264E...

I´m sure they sound different but equally and "Nevely" amazing!!!

Is BAE making 2264 replicas?... or you meant a comparison with the 1073?

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

The 2264 was the best sounding Neve compressor ever built. Why change its design? and no 440 amp ?That's heresy!
I have 4x 2254 already, i absolutely love them but I miss the 2264 sound...I guess the AMS reissue is my sole option...too bad, they look awesome from the outside! Oh well!
Make me a real 2264 and i'll consider buying some, but until then ... !
Also, IMHO, your 1800Euro pricing is gonna be a tough sell. That's $4500 for stereo plus the cost of a powered rack ($1000)! You shouldn't sell much of them in the US where we can score a vintage metal knobs 33609 between $4K & $5K these days...

Hi

Pardon me, but I would love to see where I said the 2264's B440 amp was like on a 1073... that has a B283/AV

That's twisted from what I would have said about the 2254 which is like a 1272 with a compressor attenuation section added. That certainly uses a B283/AV

Hi Alex

Lines crossed a smidgen... the 2254 (all versions) was 1272 based and Class A... the (3)2264 used the B440 driving a LO1173 and was Class AB.

This unit is a 32264 with a 2254 output stage... not sure of the point of that...

The class A , class A/B issue:
We always loved the sound of the 2254 and the way the 2264a compressed so the answer was obvious.
We prototyped both ways and everybody in the house preferred the sound of the Class A output stage. At the end of the day , sound is what really matters...

Hi

Just out of curiosity, who are the experts you have working with you that make up 45 years of experience? I may know some of them.

PS If you are intent on recreating vintage Neve, you should recreate their system of testing. Noise = -100dBm means nothing. You should state the Equivalent Input noise (Neve's were around -127 but spec'd it at -125dB). So you give noise stating the gain used (80dB) and the filtering (20Hz to 20KHz) and the termination (200 ohms)
