Waves NLS & 64 bit (v9)

I haven't found any english informations on it yet but on a german page I found that: NAMM 2012: Waves NLS

It's a new Waves plugin that emulates analog summing effects of three legendary mixing consoles:
  • SSL 4000G
  • EMI TG12345 Mk 4
  • Neve 5116

I think it is something like the Slate Digital VCC stuff.

Translated From German (source here http://www.delamar.de/musiksoftware/waves-nls-13258/)

Waves NLS - Emulated console

The SSL 4000G is Mark "Spike" Stent (Radiohead, Björk, Muse, Maroon 5, Madonna)
The EMI TG12345 Mark 4 is Mike Hedges (The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Dido, Faithless, Manic Street Preachers, U2) - this one is heard on such timeless productions such as Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon"
The Neve 5116, specially made for Yoad Nevo (Bryan Adams, Pet Shop Boys, Sugababes, Goldfrapp, Air)
In developing this plugin modeled Waves more than 100 individual channels in all the details, with their very own sound colors and characters were studied and analyzed. The behavior of each input and the summing busses was recorded.

Waves NLS: Price & Availability
Waves NLS is expected to appear in the first quarter of this year. The price has not yet been announced. At the NAMM 2012 Waves Audio is represented in Hall A at the state 6242nd

Really like the console models choice.

By the way, seems that the plugin to be inserted on the master bus, the one behind, is more "complex" that the Slate VCC one, with the management of the different VCA groups.

Can't wait to hear it, especially the EMI and Neve models !!!

I love VCC but it kills on the CPU. My guess is waves will be less of a cpu hit like all of their plugs. Free for me in mercury.

Now Waves needs another tape sim. Something more modern and open than Kramer and a new reverb.

What would be the advantage of NLS?

Would it provide more glue toa mix? More colour?
More width and depth etc?

That's what it's supposed to do. Can't wait to hear it at work.

Looking at the plug-in there are no licensed names on there unlike their SSL set. Like V Series. For that reason I'd say it will be included in Mercury. If not, us Mercury owners will revolt.

Wonder how many samples of latency it adds and how this would be on a live mix using Multirack.

Here is a picture of the poster at NAMM... I think the V9 announcement was bigger news!

Software Waves V9 Coming March 2012

64-bit (not AAX yet)
Faster loading
Faster processing
No iLok required
Cloud or USB flash activation

The faster load times are due directly to not using iLok. From what I understand iLok will also still be available for the time being.

License cloud. Interesting. I wonder if you can use plug-ins simultaneously on two different systems through the cloud.

There have been rumblings that Pro Tools 64bit is coming in March/April but I ignored them. May be if Waves is going 64bit at that time.

I don't know, but I specifically asked about AAX and that will not be available with the V9 release, at least initially.

Agreed.. VCC is good, Free merc plugs are good too.. especially if they're a tad easier on the CPU.

Personally, I'd like to see something along the line of a Manley Passive, or a really killer channel strip, (did I just say that?)....

Too bad they didn't get the Portico II plugs., those would have been nice.

However, going away from iLok doesn't thrill me at all. Just went through all of that with the plugin alliance stuff.. I'm not digging this trend at all. Studio computers are going to have to be connected. For guys traveling around it's going to get challenging if everyone goes this way.

I was wondering when Waves would have jumped in the console game..
*looks* cool lol as usual..
We'll see about the sound but I agree consoles choice is quite interesting

Of course this is totally going to be a impulse purchase for me,
I'd hold myself from buying console-like plugin so I could go with the
Waves version and not feeling TOO guilty about it :D

I've been using their SSL channel on i think every mix for the past few years
and worked great for me, I assume this one will do the trick even better
I'm a bit worried about the price tho'

The SSL I really don't care about but as much as I don't like WAVES the EMI and the Neve might actually make me give them money again. Very cool choices . Anyone know what the price will be?
