From Sweetwater.com:

Lauten Audio Atlantis FC-387
Determined to build a large-diaphragm condenser microphone that you can use for anything, Lauten Audio introduced their new Atlantis FC-387 FET microphone at this winter's NAMM show. This microphone features many remarkable innovations, among which are a 3-way voicing switch and a 3-way gain switch, both of which are designed to significantly affect the character of the Atlantis' sound and response.

Lauten Audio Atlantis FC-387 Features:
Large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone
Switchable omni, figure-8, and cardioid polar patterns
3 x voicing options let you change the contour of your sound from mellow to aggressive
3 x gain settings let you boost weaker signals and pad louder sources

Wow! I never thought someone would notice! it is indeed the Atlantis. Fab was instrumental in the design and voicing, he used it on the overheads when doing the Apollo video!

Sounds like a fet mic with an EQ switch thrown in. I'm waiting for a continuously variable EQ to be built in, switches are always one step off. How about a semi-parametric EQ built in? Variable gain would be better than a switch too. A limiter would also be nice.

So, what capsule did they select? K-47? C-12? K-67?

Hi!

It's pretty much an EQ switch, yes. but instead of just shelving off here and there, it's a completely different circuit so the curve is tailored for specific uses (videos and samples coming soon)

as for the capsule, it's a 100% original 31.25mm Lauten Audio capsule. you won't find it anywhere else. (except than in Lauten's own Oceanus model)

Cheers!

We just recorded the amazing Will Knox with it:

Puremix_Testing Lauten Audio Atlantis

The result speaks for itself. For Will, who usually is a bright singer, the gentle position is super smooooooth AND does not feel muddy.

I like the gentle setting, but really hope it's not just an eq. Looking forward to tests and reviews of the Atlantis. I also like the sound of the Oceanus might be to bright for some sources
