HOT DAYM. WOW.

"VST plug-in support (iOS format only)" - Can someone explain? I'd love to run VSTs (esp Kontakt) in IOS.

A few things about Auria and Plugins:

Auria will support effect plugins, but not instruments (as it isn't a MIDI sequencer). We already have several 3rd party companies supporting Auria (PSPaudioware, Fabfilter, Overloud, and a few more still in development) and have a bunch of meetings at NAMM with more plug makers to get more folks on board.

The way it will work is that Auria supports the In-App purchase of VST plugins (that are in the iOS format). Apple dictates that every "add-on" MUST go through their App Store, so these 3rd party plugins have to become available through the app itself; there's no way an iPad owner can load software outside of the App Store. Part of this is so that Apple can sign-off on every bit of code that gets executed on an iPad.

We're helping plugin manufacturers port their existing VST plugins over to the iOS platform, so that more and more plugins become available. But Auria will ship with a bunch of effects already (every channel has a PSP-designed ChannelStrip with EQ and Dynamics, for example), so that right out of the gate it should be an incredibly useful system.

This is the coolest thing I've seen for an ipad yet! Oh and how I wish PSP would introduce a channel strip in AU/VST format.

As a graphic Designer, I think it could look a little better. The colour harmonies in the wave view is not right at all. haha.

Any chance of getting sample rates higher than 44.1? I find it extremely disappointing that all iOS recording is limited to 44.1.

Sample rate: Unfortunately the iOS platform is currently limited to 44.1k, there's no way around that for developers. It does handle 24 bit depth, though! Hopefully this is something that will change in the future.

Too Good to be true! looks very promising. I can only hope the iPad processor can carry all that functions.
compatibility with Alesis ioDock is a must, since right now it's the only real pro solution for those of us who relay on the iPad for live shows and studio work.
(only recently i had a small tour in the u.s with a band where all my instrument's were iPhone with the Akai synth station and iPad+alesis io dock. time's do change.)

another thing is, can it sinc to an external midi clock? that will be fantastic that way i can finally run a show without using a laptop.
oh and what's the price range?

It will work with Alesis ioDock, but Auria also supports multi-channel USB interfaces, so you could, for example record an entire band through an 18-input USB interface.

As far as MIDI, Auria is an audio-only app, so no there's no midi clock. We may add midi syncing in a future update, though.

The price will be $49.95

wait a minute - record 18 channels on usb with an iPad??? did i just passed to a parallel dimension while i was in the bathroom???
is there a USB interface right now that can record 18 channels and can be hooked up with the iPad?

this is getting better by the minute...

btw i like that it doesn't have midi instrument's. back to the old practice and than record your performance. fine by me, but syncing is very important for live show today and having so many channels available to run samples and pre recorded tracks along loopers or drum machine's can enlarge your market.

btw - great price!
can i have it now?

Looks awesome!

Does it work with any USB 2 interface?

Does it come with dubstep presets? If not it's dead in the water already.

I hear they have added a new gesture for this app specially , it involves you clenching your fist tightly and moving it backwards and forwards rhymically

OK so obviously holy crap is warranted here but some questions:

If you are an existing customer of FabFilter are you going to get a break on the add-ins?

Are you going to support wav file import? Seems like AAF is only format right now.

Can you import tracks created by other iOS instruments like Animoog or MS-20 for example? Ideally you could play those instruments right into the app but you say you don't support instruments for now.

Please please support midi sync!!!

USB: It should work with most USB stereo interfaces, using the Camera Connection kit. We'll have a post on our site before the app ships with the latest up-to-date test results, including info on what multi-channel interfaces are working (and aren't working).

Import/Export: In addition to AAF, Auria will handle: .wav (including Broadcast .wav), AIFF, .mp3, Audio Copy/Paste (between other apps), DropBox, Soundcloud, and iTunes File Transfer

Existing plugins: Apple handles all the sales of plugins (via In-App Purchase), and they really don't allow any developer (i.e. us, or Fabfilter, or PSPaudioware, etc) to bypass their store. So someone will need to purchase the iOS specific version of any plugins in this format. Plugins should be very reasonably priced, though, many between $10-$20.

If anyone is attending NAMM this week, swing by our booth (Hall A - #6905) to try it out yourself.

Can't wait to learn a bit more about this. Not sure how it usually works, but hopefully there will be a manual in .pdf form on the WaveMachine Labs website that potential customers can read over to make sure we know the capabilities of this program.

I'm VERY curious about buffer sizes, and how practical it will be to 'overdub' while playing back 16+ tracks with EQ.

I honestly had no idea the iPad or even iOS could handle an app this intense.

So, what interfaces have you tested it with? I will in no way consider it an endorsement or statement of functionality but a simple statement of testing. This would be awesome for a remote rig and I'd love to be able to track 18 - 24 at a time.

Can you export the individual tracks?
