Says "coming may 2012". However may is gone in a couple of days.

Well, May is almost over now and where is the Auria app? The developers clearly state; "available in May 2012" and still no announcement???

They've been pretty forthcoming on their fb page. Its in final betatesting. There was a bug in the psp master strip and that needed to be fixed before it's submittet to the app store.

Been waiting for Avid to do this. Add some basic midi implementation/instrument support and we're in business.

Nicely done.

Akai EIE records 4 tracks at once. Auria is such a breath of fresh air for me personally- so sick of mousing around a pc for so many years. I am glad there is no midi etc- straight multitrack!!

Yeah- it looks like this is on the high end for interface solutions. Keep in mind that all of these new products coming out to dock the iPad may be obsolete if the iPad follows suit with the changing dock on the upcoming iPhone...

If they change the dock connector all that will be needed is a new camera connection adapter (dock to USB), since that's how they all interface anyway.

No- only class 2 USB devices (they don't need a driver) and a camera connection kit is all you need. Foster from the Auria forum found a cool USB hub that plugs right into the iPad... Awesome

I couldn't find a posting by Foster on the Auria Forum site that talks about a cool USB hub, where is it?

FWIW, I bought one & wrote a review on it here.

Auria 48 track mixer iPad app

I'm not a pro-engineer. So if I got anything wrong, please feel free to make corrections.

As far as MIDI, Auria is an audio-only app, so no there's no midi clock. We may add midi syncing in a future update, though.

The price will be $49.95

Rim
Please add some midi control to for stuff like the levels of the channels!

Two (well three) things i miss from this already excelent
app is midi tracks (not virtual instruments, just midi tracks). Multi output support (which dpends on apple as this is not supported in ios 5. And some way to charge while using the camera kit. (i'll be buying an authorized one with both regular usb and mini usb and see if it'll charge if i plug an adapter into the mini usb port while using an audiointerface on the regular.

Alesis I/O dock takes care of MIDI input. You can trigger iPad synth apps with external MIDI controllers. The i/o Dock takes care of charging too. I don't think Auria can record onboard synth apps though, because iPad only does one thing at a time.

The camera connector I bought is utterly useless for this app.

That's how I see it. Because of the Apple-imposed hassles importing and exporting audio files, this is much more functional as a live recording console.

I meant midi tracks that can do midi output. Not only notes but also program changes cc's etc....

It's iOS that won't support multiple outs- only stereo right now no matter what app
Ios6 MAY change this, but everyone is being tight lipped about 6 so far.
Auria has stated that they will support multi outs as soon as Apple does. Good news!

The only problems I have with Auria are those imposed by Apple iPad architecture.
Otherwise, it's a brilliant and inexpensive little app.

I may be incorrect about this. But I think some iPad synths will send MIDI cc's out.
The iO dock has a MIDI Out. But Auria does not do MIDI - period.

Cant argue with the iPad architecture point, but with iTunes file sharing and Dropbox integration (which beatmaker 2 does VERY well) it works awesome.

Beatmaker 2 does all midi in out except for program change for some reason (maybe I've just missed it).

And finally, I am probably the only Auria owner who doesn't care that Auria doesn't have midi. It's a tape deck and mixer and that's fine by me.

With these iOS apps, I would also like the top row of all these app to move to the bottom- tired of looking at my hands all of the time!

Agreed. I don't need it to do MIDI either. I will sequence MIDI on my software or on my my Korg M3 sequencer. Once I get the sequence right, I'll record audio tracks. After that, I can do the final mix in Auria.

I really look forward to trying Auria & the Alesis ioDock in a live mixing situation.

It's funny because that's the biggest complaint on the Auria forum- no midi or instruments(yet)
Everyone has this 'band in the box' mentality about daws now. It ruined protools LE, that's for sure. Once they introduced instruments, the hardware couldn't keep up

is there a USB interface right now that can record 18 channels and can be hooked up with the iPad?
As a proof of concept exercise, I recorded 16 tracks live (24/48) with a rhythm section and vocalist just last week, using the Presonus 1818VSL interface.

Two words: It works.
