App Daw Booth Remote (iPhone App)

App Store - Daw Booth Remote

Control Pro Tools with "DBR". Really simple to use, simple layout and Closet Friendly.

This iPhone Remote App for Pro Tools is Not designed for Mixing.

Is your microphone in the closet? DBR is your friend. What about in the Bathroom? DBR is your best friend..

You can put your mic anywhere and hit the record button wirelessly on your iPhone, within Home Network.

No need to hit spacebar then run to mic before you miss your cue..

DBR is your favorite friend..

Press the Record button in the booth with no engineer at the desk.

**Note**
Instructional video is in App. Just press the info button.

Mac OSX supported only. Tested with Pro Tools 9/10

App

having a bit of trouble getting my computer to 'see' my iPhone in AudioMIDI setup. in your video, it looks like you simply double-clicked the "Network" setup under MIDI, and your 'iPhone simulator' was just there to select. unfortunately it's not happening for me.

any thoughts, anyone?

edit: i'm definitely connected to the appropriate network on both devices.

I quickly tested your application.

First, you have my respect for implementing HUI. Which is not the most funny part IMHO. (Being a developer myself)

I tested this with 10HD on Lion.

Great work. Simple interface. Easy to use. Only the relevant functions are there. I would definitely use the app if I need to record myself.

I think you are interested in any issues found.

1. If I press the RS button it returns to +0.1dB and not to zero

2. I can the Prev track button even if I am on Track 1. The track view in the app is showing "Track". If I went back to a "real" track the RS button is not working unless I move the fader in the app for that track.

Ah, yep! Works like a charm. Thanks cocell! I had to switch Midi Network connections to accept "anyone".. weird, since I tried that yesterday to no avail. But it's working well now!

One little issue. Track names are not showing up in my app, still just says generic 'Track'.

Thank you Frank18 for trying the app and giving feedback.
I wish Avid would give us more to work with. I had to reverse engineer to figure out the HUI protocol.

Today I fixed the issues you found.

- RS button now Resets selected track fader to 0.0dB
- RS button now resets selected track fader to 0.0dB without touching fader first.
- Prev Track button will return back to first track if at the beginning and not show "Track" by itself.

This will be fixed in the next update.

Good to hear it's working now...
I have a few questions...

What version of Pro Tools are you using?
Have you tried pressing "Next>" button a few times?
I was informed an issue with pressing "<Prev" at the beginning of track count will show "Track" only. I have fixed that problem today if that is what the issue was and will be fixed in the next update..

Reverse Engineering should not be necessary these days. If some vendors would revisit their closed shop philosophy...

I will try the next release and give you some feedback.

Thanks

Working Great!

I was contemplating buying an iPad just for that Pro Remote App where all I wanted was the simple functions such as Transport, Undo etc so I could record by myself. For .99c it's a bargain!

Great work!

Ah yes....windows please...!! I would buy it in a heart beat. And to have full screen Ipad resolution, I would pay $5-$10 for it.
Great job Cocell

I tried your method and it work flawlessly on Mac OSX 10.7.2 Lion with both iPhone4 and iPad2.

Im not sure and cannot recreate the problem your having, but I can suggest try to delete the old midi drivers in HD/Library/Audio/Midi Drivers and reinstall the latest versions..

What is your system setup??
did u upgrade pro tools and/or update midi drivers??

I am having the same problems getting my iphone to show up in the MIDI network setup, and have tried everything mentioned above. My fear is that my Mac Pro is not connected via wifi, but through an ethernet cable plugged into an airport express that is on the network. The iphone and computer are on the same wireless network, but could this be the problem?

Sorry to hear you're having problems..
Have you tried setting up Ad-Hoc Mode?? If not here are the steps

1. Click on Wireless icon ^ by the clock
2. Select "Create Network"
3. Type in a Network Name that your iPhone will see.
4. Select any Channel
5. Secure it, if you like
6. On iPhone, Select New Wireless Network name you created
7. Enter Security Key.
8. Open DBR
9. Go to "Utilities/Audio Midi Setup" and see if it shows up..

Hope this works...
