SamplesLoops LA Scoring Strings version 2.0

Hey Guys,
Very surprised this hasn't been posted here yet - especially given the activity over at the audiobro forums.
But for all those interested in scoring - and string samples - version 2 of LA Scoring Strings has hit over the weekend.

LASS 2.0

The update is huge - I'm still getting my head around the ARC (it will come) and what it means for my template. But there are tonnes of possibilities as to ways of working with this library.

Then there's stage and colour, new Aleatoric string patches, non vib to vibrato patches... its a massive update.

They've also got a new application to allow the library to be downloadable (its about 16GB in the new lossless kontakt audio format - so a fair bit lighter than V1) - and the release has been remarkably smooth.

Enjoy! Brendan.

There is new sample content - but not a huge amount.
Basically, the aleatoric strings as far as I can tell.
I don't know if the non-vib to vib samples are new, or just clever programming.
But the programming for this is by far the deepest I've seen for any kontakt based sample library. It's certainly going to change the way that I use the samples - in a very productive way.

Oh - and the lib is now just 24bit (no longer 24 and 16bit samples) - since the 24bit samples now take up less resources than the old 16bit sample set.

What do you mean?

As far as I know, they haven't sent anyone direct emails yet... (I didn't get one either) - communication has been thru their website/forum for now.

All sorted, I never recieved anything from them about the 1.5 update either.

I'm downloading 2.0 now. Looks great.

Out of curiosity... do you guys download and install your stuff directly from your studio computers? My studio computers aren't connected to the internet for big downloads.

It's a $129 update.

So I suppose you all think it's worth the price?

Did any of you get the legato sordino?

Oh? ...but it's a separate purchase or "sidegrade" at $249 ...while the update to LASS 2.0 is $129 ...and seems to be what this thread is about.

But nobody seems too concerned about the price in this thread

just saying: if we had to pick one (which we are) then it would be that first.
We didn't decide the price-point; it is what it is or just walk on by ~

Thanks guys for all the kind words!!!

Just a little clarification... LASS 2.0 doesn't have any new sample content.. but that about where the similarity with the old library ends. LASS 2.0 is completely re-written with new technologies like the ARC and the Stage & Color which includes Sonic Profiles that were inspired by some of the most coveted orchestral scores and recordings.

Now, LASS can do all this "inside the box" based on exclusive Stage and Color features.

Like someone else mentioned, you can read more about it here: http://audiobro.com/lass-2-0/

Also... since we will be adding some new Multis and other features, we thought it might be a good idea to ask you guys what are some of your favorite sounding strings film scores or orchestral sting recordings? We might be able to include a couple of Sonic Profiles inspired by those scores.

Cheers,

Andrew K

Thanks Andrew.

I am jumping in ...

* Godfather + Lord Of The Rings
* Wagner's Parsifal
* Beatles' Elonor Rigby

Ah - Andrew - sorry for my misinformation earlier in the thread.
It seems the new patches are all programmed (very cleverly obviously!) from the existing samples.

Ie - Aleatoric and non-vib to vib patches.
Apologies for any confusing I may have caused!

Cheers, Brendan.

Morricone "The Mission"

Some old soundtracks like "Limelight" and "City Lights" will come in handy from time to time.
Even something resembling the Motown strings.

Hehe Andrew, looks like people here are also requesting some Morricone just like over Vi-Control.net

those prices are hidden until you sign in.

Anyone using LASS Full & LASS LS? Still trying to justify and understanding the audible diffs regarding this particular add on ( LASS LS). The video demo sounds amazing but wouldn't mind a little extra nudge

thanks

im someone that was not happy with LASS mainly cause of the sound.

with the update im happy. the stage and color really makes it sound pretty good.

ones of the gripes is that there arent too many multis to start from. and setting it up its kinda a pita.

OT: I read somewhere that Morricone used to do this trick on low-budget films:
record 2-3 violins on tape, copy tape x2-4 times = full ensemble

I'm a huge fan of "The Lark Ascending" performed by Janine Jansen. Beautiful violin.

Here's a sample of LASS 2.01 in a small composition I made yesterday - the stage and colour tool really is amazing!! All strings are LASS except for the double basses (where I experimented with Albion in this particular piece)
