You had me at 'Nord'...

Did they ever make a MIDI controller with their wooden pitch bend and stone mod wheel, like on my Nord Lead 2X? Not that I need it when I can just use the 2X... but something more portable... that's the sort of thing I'd be compelled to buy just to HAVE. I'd go somewhere with my laptop and the controller JUST to be using it somewhere away from my studio...

I would say possibly more of a drum machine than a drum brain maybe?

Something to compete against Tempest and Elektron users perhaps?

Drum machine with Nord Wave technology?

Regards,
Frank

Never listen to opinions regarding tape, digital, analog, plug-ins, hardware, software, amp modelers, etc. For every 50 nobodies on Gearslutz that say a piece of gear doesn't sound good enough to cut it, I know at least one somebody who is cutting it in NYC with that piece of gear.

i would be pleasantly surprised if that weer so but i doubt it.. their focus is not really on the "electronic music" market it's all about performance oriented keyboards like the stage pianos.. so i'd expect them to do soem kind of drum trigger device but as said.. a drum machien would be a pleasant surprise

I expect something like Wavedrum, but another type of or more types of drums. If it's just a sample player or another drum synth (very unlikely, and they did write "a different drum"), that would be disappointing.

also, the target market for such a device would not be impressed with a teaser photo of two drumsticks. it would likely be an image more targeted to electronic music.

a nice surprise it would be, yes, but clavia (or, nord now, i guess) abandoned electronic music with the letting go of the nord modulars.

wow.. interesting! now it DOES seem like some sort of retro/electronic thing.... the the image could still be a of a drum brain for a set of pads... but the slogan sort of skews it to something more "trendy".

Oh dear lord, I hope this thing is not a super cool drum machine. I do NOT want to spend ANY MORE MONEY! Must get rid of gear...not buy more

It would be *so great* if Nord picked up where ddrum left off and went from there. We could really use a high-quality alternative to Roland's and Yamaha's stuff, and the Nord team has the experience and talent to make it.

I'm excited to see what they've got.

depending on how much that image is photoshopped, i still bet it's just a new ddrum type of brain... as there's no hint of the type of buttons you'd typically find on a modern drum machine... pads, etc.... it looks like a box with a few nord-style menu buttons (maybe in a row) and will have an LCD screen.

Drum module like the MFB machines? Or perhaps a software-programmable drum machine ala G1/G2? Either way sign me up. I love drums on the G2.

maybe but it's hard to tell at the angle of the photo. could be a row of knobs?

but if it is designed to make 'retro' sounds then i can tell you i'm not interested at all. if it's some kind of electronic sounding thing then it should have parameter values and 'models' that exceed the classic techno sounds of yesteryear.

my guess is drum module with a sort of nord lead2x drum mode type synth engine but tuned to drums.. which would be pretty sweet actually.

Yes. I would love that. Based on where the Electro and performance range is going, as well as the "drums of the future come from the past" line, i'm guessing it will be more preset-oriented with downloadable libraries and maybe some basic editing.

It should be a drum synth as Nord are really good at percussion.

I sometimes use the Nord Rack 2 as a electronic percussion instrument and it delivers!

Oh and it should have pads as per the first image!

So many options for drums these days, it gets my head spinning, but in a cool way

Maschine, Spark, Akai's new MPC, ....etc. and lots interesting software Drum VSTs as well.

Good times for making beats
