SamplesLoops Cymbal essentials

Being a long time drummer and cymbal lover, I'm really proud to present this new sample kit:

CYMBAL ESSENTIALS is the first product from the SILVER&GOLD series, a new line of premium cymbal samples and virtual instruments.

It features 62 cymbal samples and 2 Kontakt patches:

CYMBAL ESSENTIALS | loops de la crème

The included samples showcase various playing technics, and were recorded with great depth and detail, in stereo, and with as little ambience as possible to ensure maximum flexibility and usefulness. They are divided in 6 categories:

12 Long Rolls (nice and varied swells using mallets)
10 Rides
16 Crashes (using both sticks, plastic rods and mallets)
9 HiHats (3 sets of closed, foot, and open variations)
7 Piatti (orchestral hand held cymbals)
8 splashes, bells and stacks (cymbals stacked on top of each other)

62 cymbal samples, (stereo 24bit, 48Khz wav)
15 IR samples (convolution reverb)
two Native Instruments KONTAKT patches:
1. main set
2. sound design set
Total size unzipped: 191MB

introductory price: 4 Euros

Here is a demo using only three Kontakt instances of CYMBAL ESSENTIALS:

http://soundcloud.com/boogalab/cymbal-essentials-demo

The second half of the track features some sounds from the second Kontakt patch, named 'sound design set'. It uses a variety of sampling technics (looping, pitching, reverse playing, layering) to achieve totally different and inspirational sounds: soundscapes, gong-like effect, reversed cymbals, chromatically playable bells.

Hi J-
Thanks for the email re: your website.
Your Cym Essentials Kontakt Library sounds awesome and is perfect for a project we're working on this week. Its also great to have some 'not so prominent' sounding rides. So far, every library that we know of has neglected that lightest of light touch that sits so wonderfully in certain mixes.

atb,
kjb

Glad to see you're already giving CYMBAL ESSENTIALS a good workout! Good luck with your project

I purchased this within one minute of hearing the demo. At the price, it's
really a steal.

Excellent job, insanely awesome price.

Some additional infos about the cymbal used:

10 different and complementary cymbals were selected for the creation of this collection. Most are hand-made, unique cymbals, some of them are highly sought-after collector items:

10" bronze Ice Bell:
a thick high-pitched effect cymbal, with a long decay and icy overtones
12" PAISTE Splash:
a short and bright cymbal, great for accents
12" vintage Avedis ZILDJIAN:
originally a 16", this cymbal was recut, and produces a rare and funky gong-like sound
14" ISTANBUL extra heavy pair:
a fantastic set of hi hat cymbals, handmade in turkey, also great as crash or hand-held piatti cymbals
14" Avedis ZILDJIAN crash:
a mellow, thin expressive crash, with complex decay
16" ZILDJIAN K dark crash:
a great cymbal with a rich range of overtones, also perfect for dirty ride hits
16" vintage Avedis ZILDJIAN crash ride:
extremely versatile, perfect definition. A masterpiece from the great 60s jazz era of Zildjian
18" BOSPHORUS paper thin crash:
a mellow, dark and mystical cymbal, with intense decay. perfect for rolls and orchestra settings
22" MEINL ride:
extreme stick definition, surprisingly powerful and effective when used as a crash

Have to quote Michael B Tretow (abba) here... "cymbals are what drummers use to ruin an otherwise perfect drum sound"

Very nice Michael. I especially liked the nice variety of sus cymbals and FX cymbals.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you found some useful sounds. BTW, my name is Julien, the one Michael mentioned above is Michael B Tretow (abba)

Wish you lots of productive fun and inspiration with the cymbals!

Oops! sorry......

Julien - I did find one bug. On the FX cymbal patch. G4 - or could be G3 or G5 not sure as I was just fooling around - consistently crashed my system. Playing the note slowly ONE time without repeats would be ok, but if you hit that note 2-3 times in quick succession, midi to Kontakt would disappear, and the entire DAW would become non-functional - although it did not completely crash the system. Very weird, and completely repeatable. It happened 3 times with reboots between times. Never had any issues with Kontakt like this before.

PTHD3, Mac 10.6, Powermac Nehelam, PT 8.0.3, RTAS instantiation inside PT, latest version of K5. Hope that helps you figure it out. It's a shame, as I'll probably not load that preset unless it gets fixed, as I can't tolerate reboots when I'm writing. Good luck. PM me if you need any more info. Still loving the sounds and layout.

Thanks for pointing that out.
Did a bit of testing here...
Found the bug and a simple way to fix it:

the culprit is g3: it plays a sample pitched three octaves up (pitch shift +36 semitones!!). I set the quality of the sample engine to 'perfect', to optimize the sound quality, but on this one note, with such a pitch-shifting happening in real-time, it seems to be too much processing power needed to play the sample a few times consecutively.

The way to fix this is to set the quality one step down to 'high' in Kontakt.

Here is how to do it:
Load the sound design set. Click on the hand tool on the top left.
In the first section (Source), you'll see a box reading: 'HQI: perfect'
Click on it, and select the second option, 'high'
You can then save the patch either by replacing the existing one, or give it a different name (ex: sound design set_HQ) in the same folder.
Use in both cases 'save patch only'.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I hope this helps and works on your system.
I'll be doing updates regularly (first one should be within the next month), and will send free download links to all users, so thanks again for mentioning that one!

Nice!
I updated the patch with this fix (quality set on 'high' by default for the sound design set)

I love you. I bought basically you're entire catalog before the New Year and it is a steal at the price you are selling it for. Thanks! Make more!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, if you can make WAV's available (in general), that would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated, they will bring courage and motivation as I work on new stuff

Regarding WAV, almost all sample kits on the Loops de la crème website come as a compressed ZIP file containing samples in WAV format.
Only the three mediapack instrumentals collections (Soundscapes, Paris-Bamogo-Vienna, and Cinematic Solo Guitar) are not yet available as audio WAV files: I'm considering other options for distribution so that might soon change.

I hope you find the samples useful for your music projects
Greetings from vienna

You're welcome! Message me when you need motivation (or motivational threats, I can provide both!)

I can't seem to find the wav's? My download links have expired for all the ones I purchased before, but I just checked Cymbals and its only allowing me 320 MP3, ALAC, MP3 VBR, FLAC, Ogg, ACC...but no wav

Here from Loops de la crème FAQ (FAQ | loops de la crème):

I wanted to download the samples, but can't find the wav. 24bit format among the format options given to me?

The choice of format is actually just for the additional demo audio files posted on each product page. You can select mp3, it will make the download faster, or pick one of the esoteric formats for fun or to run a test!
Your sample kit will automatically be delivered to you via the download as a ZIP file. Unzip the folder, and you'll find a text containing the license agreement, and a folder with all samples in WAV format.

Hope that helps!
Send me a pm with a list of the products you purchased and couldn't/didn't download yet. We will work something out.

About making groove agent one patches, I won't be able to do that now. Maybe in the future I'll get some colleagues (cubase users) to help with that, but I can't say anything for sure now. I'll remember your request though!
