oh that demo is charming - I love it when a drummer plays tunes (I mean the stuff before about 1:30).

Thanks! It was really spontaneous, three tracks of CYMBAL ESSENTIALS, improvised using a keyboard controller. I edited the resulting 'jam' down to 2 minutes (was originally over 4mn)
The chromatic bells from the sound design set are fun to play and make interesting sounds for simple melodies and chords.

The microphones used for the recording session were primarily a pair of cardioid Shoeps, in a XY stereo configuration:

This XY configuration gives a natural depth to the samples, and the stereo width can be fully adjusted (from extreme wide to mono) without phase issues.

Other mics used for CYMBAL ESSENTIALS:

Sontronics Sigma (a ribbon mic with an 'instant vintage' character)
Rhode NT4 (practical nice sounding XY stereo mic)
DPA 4006A (reference omni mic)

No, there's no knob for adjusting the stereo width on the UI of CYMBAL ESSENTIALS.
You can still either manually insert an effect in Kontakt (stereo modeller) or use a stereo width plugin in your host DAW (the free Stereo Tool from Flux is brilliant)

Here's a pic of the UI for the main set:

So the price for CYMBAL ESSENTIALS is now 8 euros (10.50$)

I've completed and released a new collection of 909 kicks, with tons of useful, varied kicks classified in 20 multisamples sets:

909 KING OF THE KICKS
I'll post more infos in a new thread soon.

Are these cymbals multi-sampled? If so, how many samples per velocity? Thanks.

Thanks for asking!
The cymbals are velocity-sensitive, but there are no velocity layers, just one sample per key. I wanted to keep the size and price low for the first product of the SILVER&GOLD series, while still providing a palette of useful, high quality sounds.

There's a lot of extra samples from the recording sessions (over 2 GB, up to 150 samples pro cymbal), and I've been working on turning these samples into dynamic, realistic instruments. This means experimenting with round-robins, velocity layers and fades, etc.

Hopefully, a much bigger complete set will be ready in the next few months, and will include new cymbals, and new features (multi-samples, midi grooves, automatic roll/swell functions...) as well as an upgrade plan for existing CYMBAL ESSENTIALS users.

Excellent! Sounds reasonable. I'll go purchase them now so that I can support the effort. Thanks!

Man, that was a nice exchange.

Warms my heart. Seriously.

This is the way commerce is supposed to work.

I'm finishing up an ambitious set of percussions, which will feature over 30 instruments, from the obvious (congas, djembes...) to the most unique. A nice drumset will also be included, with a couple of cymbals from the SILVER&GOLD series (multisampled hats, 2 dynamic rides, one dynamic crash)
Focus will be on playability, so there wiil be many layers of velocity and round-robin action

Like CYMBAL ESSENTIALS, the percussion collection will include samples and kontakt patches (over 680 samples), and should hopefully be ready in march or april.

Don't forget to add 2-timbales, cowbells/jam block, bongos, shaker and of course some nice sounding congas the quality of CYMBAL ESSENTIALS would be amazing
