Even though its only been one day since launched, this product is spreading like wildfires. So much in fact, .....Mr.Obama personally purchased a copy and wanted to give it to Britney Spears for Christmas.

Happy Holidays!

Granted it wasn't the only reason to buy, after all, it's a great product. At that time Slate and SSD were the new kid on the block in the world of drum replacement. Slate and team wanted to (rightfully so) get the word out about their product. The lifetime upgrade was an incentive offered to the early buyers. In a way, everyone was taking a "chance". Buyers were offering their money to the "new guy" and Slate was offering a great new product with incentives. These early buyers helped spread the word about the product. No one knew that SSD would become what it has. I'm sure Steven wanted it to be successful, but even good products sometime fail. As a business man, for Slate, it's a risk. And as a buyer, giving your money it was a risk.

With all this said, I have to say that I am really disappointed in Slate and team for not offering the upgrade free of charge to the early adopters who were part of is deal. Regardless of what the product has evolved into, it's foundation lies within the original set of samples that we invested in. These early buyers aren't asking for free Trigger or FGX upgrades for life. We invested in a killer drum sample library. This library now includes new features, new interface, etc.....but really, it is still SSD. Its all part of the product life cycle. Products are constantly upgraded, redesigned and improved. We are asking for what we were offered, which is lifetime upgrades of SSD. This deal was offered by Slate and team and should be honored by Slate and team. We weren't offered a limited life time of upgrades. We're we're offered it for the lifetime of the product. We simply want what was promised to us.
Well said. After all, the product is SSD4. If it was Steven's decision to make this a new product, it should be named and marketed as such. As it is, it's an update to a previously released product that was guaranteed free updates for life to early adopters.

In the 'read me' part of the downloads it states I need WINRAR to open the library. This seems to be a $29 app or am I looking in the wrong place? On a MBP. Thanks to anyone with info on this.

Use unrarx, stuffit didn't work for me, gave me a message that the structure of the archive was damaged. Unrarx found 1 error when unrared. Now, if I could just get a license that actually works I could load this thing up and see how it sounds.

Sometimes slow internet speeds can corrupt a RAR file when downloading. If you know which file is giving you the trouble, you might want to re-download that file.

it happens sometimes. No ones fault....just slow/fluctuation download speeds can corrupt files in the transfer......

it happens to me on occasion.

So, you think if I can pinpoint which file had an error my original license may work? thanks.

We're going to update the website with more information today such as system requirements and provide all kits that EX has.

EX has some of my favorite Deluxe drums, like the Yamaha Beech Kick (Soft Beater), Noble and Cooley 6.5 Snare, Black Beauty 6.5.. and more. Using the EX drum instruments, you can make indie, funk, and tons more rock country and vintage presets if you want.

I'm really sorry guys who bought SSD1 in 2006/2007 are not feeling good about this. My thoughts are that this really is a new product and that I did honor that upgrade while SSD was a raw sample library. However, I would try to compromise by adding all early adopters to the upgrade lists so they could get half off either product, without having to have used SSD3 or registering it.

The truth is, Slate is a very different company, and while I try to be extremely fair with pricing, we simply can't be giving stuff away in that type of volume if I expect to pay a full staff of dedicated employees. This is not a cheap company to run.

So I'm hearing great things this morning in my email slate@stevenslate.com from guys have successfully downloaded and registered SSD4, so I think the good news is that with a proper download, the unarchiving should have no corruptions and the license files are working.

Some of you have bad license files or license files that simply aren't working, so we're gonna have a generator today that will be able to do it quickly. My boys Peter and Anthony are gonna be helping people out in support, and I'll be knocking through emails at slate@stevenslate.com although all tech support questions I will toss to them.

Thanks so much everyone for your support and patience as we get this release going. And for the love of Santa, for those of you who have successfully downloaded the software and are messing with it, post some stuff lighten the mood!

Cheers,
Steven

I purchased and D/led the EX version, and so far, I keep getting corrupt .rar files...I have tried D/ling the first file twice. I got it to unpack, with one sample being corrupt. I am attempting to d/l file number 2 now...again...these are big files (over 1gb), but I have a pretty good internet connection (Comcast high-speed)..having alot of trouble...I was able to get some of the samples to load into the sampler program in PT 10, and they sound great, but it looks like I am going to spend the better part of a day trying to get this to work...I am a Trigger user, and I love it.I also have KitCore, which has some really good samples as well, and was much easier to d/l and use..I hope they get this fixed!
I also sent a support ticket and have heard nothing back...I think that thier server is proabably about ready to blow up..

I downloaded the whole shebang (platinum) in about 75 minutes last night and got my serial about 2 hours later so all in all not bad at all for over 10 gigs of data on the day of launch!

Good news this

Just want to add that all d/l 's went fine, though It took a while.
Used UnRarX with no errors.
But license is prob. sick.

These are important points to remember. You are personally on the forums talking to people and it seems obvious to me that you are bending over backwards to help people and to be fair beyond what most other companies would do. Taking in account the number of EX add on packs in the upgrade price is a great example. Good work! Keep it up!

I had some corrupt files but re-downloading fixed it. Loaded right up in pro tools, license worked, everything is great on my end. Just a few moments of messing around and really liking the interface. I can already see my workflow improving greatly than using kontakt. Great job Steven and crew, hope y'all have a merry Christmas!

Mostly a lurker on this forum and 24 hours after purchase, download, and install I have to say the Deluxe kits are simply awesome sounding.
The interface is also a pleasure to work with.

The Slate team does great work!

here, on the other side of the pond (continental Europe) the download of SSD4 files is a nightmare ; even the small SSD4.EXE install file took a loooonnnngggg time to DL, and I had to retry a few times, because the antivirus program consider it is some viral product and destroys it right after the DL completes.

The library part doesn't get better ; I had so many tries DL that comes to a brutal end after hours and hours of DL, Iv'e been downloading since yesterday and so far, I have only got 2 of the 9 library files for the platinum library ... at this rate, it will take more than a week to get the whole thing, if by luck I haven't got any corrupted file !

I also had only one corrupt file and couldn't get this to work, it was crashing logic every time I tried to open it. I have erased everything and am re-downloading. I'll keep you informed. second license didn't work so it must be that corrupt file.

Hi guys! I'm really happy that some of you have had success with the download and license.

For those who have had download and license problems, I'm really sorry.

We found the issue, and its that the license server wasn't tested with enough volume, so its spitting out corrupt licenses. We are suspending the sale, fixing the situation, and will have a solution asap. If you purchased already, you'll be getting an email with information.

Hang in there folks.. we didn't use ilok for this as requested by many of you, so give us a second to iron out these new protection kinks!

Cheers,
Steven

Does this go for the licenses that were sent out today as well, because the second license I received didn't work for me either?

Hi Steve,

I want to purchase the SSD 4 upgrade (from 3.5 platinum) right now but can't, the coupon page is saying that my email doesn't exist. I've raised a support ticket and tried contacting Alex but no reply (he's on holiday now).

I can see that you are having issues with the license server so no worries, just keen to get version 4 up and running as soon as possible.

Could someone look into this for me please?

hi guys. we're gonna get the license system issue fixed, then I'm going to investigate why some people's emails aren't getting recognized. This might not be an instant fix, but I promise one thing, if you are an SSD3.x user, you'll get the discount.

Cheers,
Steven

Downloaded all the files for the third time still shows an error in one of the files. My second license still crashes logic. I am very frustrated, been at this all yesterday and today.
