Well I dont know why waves is doing it either.

I know ilok messed up and almost destroyed the plug in market but if I have to go thru 15 different challenge response thingy dingies every time I want to move around among the 8 rooms we have I am going to be disappoint.

Waves apparently will require you to log in to your account and then you can download the license to whatever you want.. iphone, usb stick, computer, whatever.. but you can nuke it anywhere at anytime, you won't lose your licenses ever.

If they can achieve THAT kind assurance, it would be worth it to go that route. No more broken/lost/stolen iLoks.. minimal fuss online for getting an activation...

Kind of like Dirk is doing. Hence my apology... I'm just going to have to adapt.

Sorry to hear Waves is going that way. I only have one Bx plugin, but loads of Waves stuff. This bothers me bigtime.

I prefer iLok far away, but for the time being, as we can see from the first announcement, Wave new system seems to be much clever, well organized and much less restrictive than Alliance 3 shots activations...

Though I'm not 100% on how Dirk will handle license loss, etc.. what Waves has proposed, (if I understand correctly), will allow you to do what you want, where you want.. and never lose your license..

Maybe a glorified TLC? If a developer can find a way that is (relatively) painless to authorize, guarantees that you cannot lose your licenses, and (most importantly) works every time... why not do it?

I am a VERY big fan of iLok. I do not like everything however and I worry most when I travel. Though I have two of my iLok 2's insured, it would still be a royal pain to replace them... I've been blessed so far and have not had to do that.. (nor have I ever had a failure).

Time's they are a changin'.....

Yea Danny, I spent a bit of time at the Waves booth discussing this. This may well be the best thought out system ever presented. If the Alliance could follow with a portable solution such as Waves has announced; they will have my vote.

I want to see how the Waves solution actually works when it's launched before they get my vote. You never know if there are some surprises.

After speaking with them, I feel that they are aware that without portability... they will suffer an enormous loss in the pro market.

Does anyone else have a similar problem? I simply don't exist in their database and there is no account pre opened for me.

I bought the entire full SPL bundle on Dec 3rd with the Xmas special that was going on with the big sign of free 64 bit version.

I have the receipt, the damn 516 euros i spent etc. I entered the same email as is on my ilok account, nothing, i don't exist to PIA.

There is no way they are going to screw me over here right? I don't use 32 bit plugins at all so i simply pre ordered cause of the 23% saving that day, and the promise of 64 bit, so i am one of the newest customers, that is entitled to the free upgrade for sure, and nothing.

Just if someone else can tell me it happened to them and they got sorted out fast, i'll be happy. Just says that their email page i sent a request with, to have patience. I have had patience.. i never used the plugins even once to this day that i paid 516 euros for (i consider that *alot* of money)

Try your email address in Capitals.
That worked for me.

Theodore, you submitted a support request at 3am our time and I guess that was the day after(!) you posted here. You exist in our data base, but with a different email address. Probably you have changed your email at ilok.com earlier.

I hope you didn´t 'really' think that somebody at the Alliance would 'screw' you... we´re a professional company, we like our customers, and we´re happy to help. That´s if you contact us and give us a chance to answer your questions during our business hours.

At 3am sleeping is our business...

Ryan will get in touch with you today and sort everything out.
Dirk.

PS: I just checked, the account holds ALL SPL plugins and 2 Brainworx....

Hey i am allowed to be a little jumpy. Ok?

I am writing here to say that Dirk etc are on the case and have responded very fast and that is EXCELLENT thank you.

I can not pretend i am happy about the new licensing system when i am just not though. Fair enough?

Please do not give my full name on public forums thank you, that's my choice who i decide to give it to.

As far as the patience thing, i meant i had had patience so far by waiting since the 64 bits had been released. Of course i didn't expect an email response immediately and am pleasantly surprised it was so fast to be honest.

This is in no way my fault, ilok provided you with an email address that had been in use for a period of two weeks only, middle of last year. I have changed it last year , logged in just now and my correct email was displayed. I don't know why they would give you an email address that (quite literally) doesn't EXIST any more. Very strange but that is DEFINITELY not your fault @ the plug in alliance, that is ilok's fault.

Anyway as long as it's all being sorted that's all that matters. Cool?
All friends?
thanks.

Interesting news:

Quote:
From now on you can deactivate any machine in your myPLUGINS account. Even if your computer has died and is not available anymore. This way you can NEVER loose any of your 3 licenses, because all plugins that used to be running on a deactivated machine will be available for a new computer again as soon as you deactivate the old computer in your myPLUGINS account. Always allowing you to use your plugins on 3 machines at the same time. Just click on the red DEACTIVATE button

Sound like even I may now move to Plugin Alliance with the dead machine guarantee ...

Now we just need all our plugins to be in Plugin Alliance so they can all be authorized in one go - like with an iLok.

Just one thought: I hope deactivating a "dead" machine doesn't mean that the plugin can never be activated on that pc again like some protections schemes do it. "Dead" pc's sometime become alive again, for example when going back to an earlier image of the systems disk before the plugin was activated. That can happen if you have a virus attack "killing" your current pc and for other less obvious reasons too.

I doubt it. It looks like a simple "deactivate/activate" routine, some kind of way to "empty slots" to get space for new machines.

Maybe I didn't think this through. Maybe it is not a problem at all. If you go back to an earlier image of your systems disk where the plugins had not been activated yet, you just use your saved auth file on that system. Right?

No, the Authorization file is system specific, I think. In that case you'd have to activate that machine just like a brand new authorization. If you want to save some time just install one of your plug-ins, authorize it for this machine online or offline, then go to your myPLUGINS plage and authorize the rest of your plug-ins for that machine and finally download your authorization file and put it in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Plugin Alliance. This authorization file will contain all your registrations.
