Fantastic work as usual. Got a small report for you. The preset BasicTapeEcho has a lot of hiss once audio goes through it. Is that by design?
Yes. The noise is coming from the NoiseGain in the DRIVE tab. Turn this down as low as you like. I put the noise in there to simulate my old BBD devices, and to kickstart the self-oscillation.
Wow. Now i understand all the hype and awesomeness in this thread.
After several years of trying various choruses i digital domain, after disappointment over disappointment i think i am witnessing first chorus which actually sound like some of the hardware choruses i liked so much. This thing is amazing. Everything else is just amazing. Truly a masterpiece of a plugin. Spectacular sound, very musical result it's almost like an instrument itself not just EQ.
It's not a slap in the face for bigger boys which want over 150 for a single chorus or flange. This is total knock out for every chorus, echo, flange to this date.
I am sounding like a fanatic fanboy over single plugin. It's that good
So generally this plugin is meant to be inserted on a track rather than used as a send?
Depends on the intended function:
- String ensemble choruses and the Über flangers work best 100% wet on a send, as these are intended to totally color the signal.
- All of the longer choruses, echoes, and reverbs can work as either a send or insert.
- For the full on MBV reverse reverb, an insert at 100% wet is required. Then run it through an amp sim. Or a real tube amp, if you can stand the volume.
OMG! This is a must have for every serious electronic musician. It has that commercial
sound ... fat, rich, full of depth. For Trance producers it´s like heaven ... just plug it in
and it sounds good ... chords, plucks, stabs, pads .... so rich, deep and wide. I love it!!!

I would like to have an option to disable noise permanently, even if presets have this switched on. Within my work flow it is annoying to turn down this every time I browse presets, trying them out. Waves and VirSyn have done the same mistake with certain plug ins. Maybe there are users getting a kick out of hiss and noise, I don't.
Otherwise: a fantastic plug in again, as expected.
O soo truly hope that Sean will stay independent and will not be bought out by some big ass pluggin giant company.
I mean, it makes you think, why can one man create pluggins from a quality, not slightly, but way above the rest?
He'd derserve this absolutely, but maybe (like Urs Heckmann) he wants to stay independent - it's all a new world. And there are not many DSP gurus in this world, who can pull something like this off.
I've had the pleasure of using this for the last couple of days, and my, this is really something. It's one of those "Now, it's done" plugins. Thanks, Sean.
I haven't tried PhaseMistress, but from what I can tell, PhaseMistress is a phaser as opposed to a delay based flanger/chorus. This means that the algorithm is based around several cascaded 1st order allpass filters with feedback. to produce moving notches in the frequency spectrum. ValhallaÜberMod is delay based, so it is closer to a flanger/chorus, although it also does echoes, reverbs and other stuff.
To me it's more comparable to echo boy, but with way more modulation parameters and possibilities. If you wanted more chorus and flange options from soundtoys, this is it and then some. Though I would say its even a step above the soundtoys stuff sonically.

Only if you're after flanged/chorused/special FX delays. As far as I can tell ÜberMod can't do either clean nor pin-pong delays (though the latter doesn't have anything to do with "sonics"). In my opinion, if someone wants to have all his/her delays needs covered then getting both would be ideal since Echoboy can't do what ÜberMod does or viceversa.

Absolutely. One won't replace the other, but they are great compliments.

ÜberMod can do clean delays. The DRIVE and DIFF sections can be switched off, for clean delays and low CPU. The classic ping-pong delays aren't currently in ÜberMod, but the multitap modes can go back and forth around the stereo image, and all sorts of interesting back and forth motion can be enabled by using different combinations of taps and the fbMix control.

Thanks Sean, I didn't know that. In fact, I didn't notice we can do clean delays because I didn't try to set the DEPTH at 0% (I tried different DRIVE and DIFF combinations but completely missed that DEPTH feature... just noticed it a couple of hours ago when I tried to recreate that bug some people reported at KvR).

ÜberMod is a plugin that will benefit from LOTS of documentation, tips and tutorials. I'm starting on those tomorrow. For now, exploration is highly encouraged!

yes and please everybody contribute with presets, would be a nice group-work
We used ÜberMod in a remix we did last weekend for a contest. Thanks Sean for giving us the tools to make our tracks sound better and better!
ÜberMod has been used to change some simple percussion sounds beyond recognition, and we also used it on a synth melody to give it a reversed reverb kind of sound. I think we used about 3 instances of ÜberMod and 5 instances of Vroom in our track, so Sean, without you, the track would sound so much worse!!
