All of the above tracks are available to download as WAV files via Soundcloud. I would recommend grabbing these to avoid the artifacts introduced by Soundcloud's encoding.

Hello,

Unfortunately there are currently no free samples available for Pro II, hence the button being greyed out. I agree that this could be confusing when not signed in as the button is not greyed out. I will take a look at making this more clear!

We were originally looking into providing some free samples (as we do with all our other products). The problem here is that the main selling point of Pro II is the extensive scripting and the way in which users can synthesize and heavily sculpt their own sounds via the 'raw page' as well as mix the heavily sampled oscillators with with the 'animated' Pro One multi-sampled patches.

Because of this, we felt a small selection of free samples would not do the instrument justice. I will look into doing some more audio demos showcasing the raw sounds. All of the synth sounds in the audio demos (previous post) are from Pro II, with 99% of the sounds having no additional processing.

I hope this helps

Dan

Been playing for a while and would like a feature request if possible

Is there anyway to link the two modules of some of the multis in Kontakt so that the frequency and resonant knobs can be linked. In other words move one and effects both. However only of benefit if each knob could be locked and moved at different positions. Ie knob one at position 6 oclock and knob 2 at 9 oclock so when moving they stay staggered.

click on auto on the top left hand panel in kontakt (between modules and master editor), drag the CC you want to the knobs you want to control together, then set your range etc in the "from to" bottom left hand corner to determine your stagger in terms or starting position.

Thanks Matty, realised after posting this was probably a case of self education with Kontakt.

Will have a play tomorrow.

This is easily becoming my go to for bases! It's so easy to dial a right sound.

Also can't believe how good the filter of Kontakt works on the raw samples.

Great great work from WA... I had a blast making the demo.

I highly recommend this (and any other WA product for that matter).

It's great to hear that you are putting the instrument to good use DSK!

Great work on the demo by the way, thanks for your contribution.

For anyone interested, we are putting together a free demo version (Kontakt 4 Instrument) of Pro II which should be available in the next few days...

Im interested in purchasing this for kontakt, however I really cant understand why i should have to pay £35.95 to use with kontakt when its £22.45 with exs24....am i missing something here??

Kontakt scripting/GUI development at this level is a serious commitment that requires extra development.

This means that people who are buying the Able or Log packs are feeling they pay the same for a less scripted library.

So you just don't pay for the sounds but for the program itself.

Hope I'm not mistaken but I think this is the logic.

Hello,

DSK is correct in that the Kontakt pricing is higher due to the extensive scripting work involved. The EXS24 version could been seen as a large bank of presets whilst the Kontakt version is a fully editable Synthesizer built specifically for the included 3.9GB of sample content.

The Kontakt version of Pro II has 'raw mode' which allows one to mix, tune / detune and heavily modify 10 heavily sampled Pro One oscillators (5 waveforms for each oscillator), 2 sub oscillators (Sine / Square) and 2 multi-sampled noise oscillators. The oscillators are routed through an amp and filter section and extra controls allow one to mix the output of the raw osc with the multi-sampled PRO One presets on the 'preset' page of the instrument. You can use different filter / env settings for each page (raw & preset) or use the 'follow' button on the raw page which locks the mirrored controls between the aforementioned pages.

When combined with the instrument's really cool LFO, extensive controls page, sequencer and custom FX, this essentially turns Pro II into a versatile synthesizer with lots of sound shaping possibilities!

I would recommend downloading the Pro II manual here for a full explanation of the Kontakt version:

Pro II Manual

The EXS24 version does not include the raw osc page, heavy editing capabilities, sequencer or fancy GUI (hence the lower price) it does however includes all of the raw sample content (3.8GB) mapped out to 152 presets.

I hope this helps. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to know.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Jonas,

Unfortunately not. You will need the full version of Kontakt 4 or above to run the Pro II synthesizer. I believe it will run in demo mode when using Kontakt Player (times out every 15 mins)

Licensing for Kontakt Player may be something we will look into in the future but it is not something that will happen any time soon.

Hi Guys,

Due to popular demand we are now offering a completely free ‘slimmed down’ demo version of our Pro II Synthesizer.

Pro II Free Demo For Kontakt

Direct download link

The demo weighs in at 400MB and is compatible with Kontakt 4.2 and above.

We have included 19 presets which have been created using only the cut-down demo features of Pro II.

As you can imagine, the full retail version with its 12 additional extra oscillators, many additional synthesis features and 3.9GB of sample content sounds a lot more powerful.

The demo version includes the full GUI but with the following restrictions:
  • OSC 1 and OSC2 feature only a SAW wave. Full version includes SAW, SQUARE, PULSE 10, PULSE 25 and TRI waveforms for both Oscillators
  • Only 1 Sub OSC available which is limited to a Square wave. Full version includes two sub oscillators, both including Square and Sine waveforms
  • Pink Noise OSC disabled
  • The ability to individually alter filter cut off and resonance for each of the 16 steps in the Pro II’s sequencer has been disabled
  • Unison function disabled
  • Follow function used to link the mirroring controls of the ‘preset’ and ‘raw’ page is disabled
  • 50% of the included custom reverb impulse responses have been disabled
  • Demo version features only 12 multi-sampled Pro One patches. These patches have also been limited to span just 2 octaves. Full version does not have this limitation and includes over 135 multi-sampled Pro One instrument patches
  • No complex multi-patch arrays are included within the demo version of Pro II
  • Some controls become inactive after 30 minutes. After this time the NKI file will need to be re-opened for parameters to become editable again

Hi!
Presently trying the demo and sounds really cool so far!
Is it only a demo limitation that it doesn't respond to automation Write and Read ? I try to move filter and reso knobs and nothing records on my sequencer even though I am in Write mode. Should this work in the full version? Thanks.

Hi Martin,

I was just about to reply to your email but it looks as if you have found the answer above!

The controls/knobs on Pro II do not have pre-set CC numbers meaning you need to assign them yourself. The process mentioned above works well.

Another way is to simply 'right-click' on any knob/control and select the 'learn midi' option. That selected knob will now respond to whatever CC number you have transmitting from a midi controller or controller lane in your DAW.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the positive feedback!

We have many more Kontakt instruments in the pipeline. I can't go into too much detail just yet but I can confirm that we will be working on an instrument focusing exclusively on synth bass, an instrument focusing on drum sounds and one focusing on a specific ARP synthesizer.

It would be great to hear any requests you or anyone else may have for future instruments. Any specific features you'd like to see, what instruments you would be most interested in etc

Cheers,

Dan
