That sounds like someone is actually making a U67 clone finally. I'd love to try this out.

About time somebody made a serious effort at recreating the U67.
Can't wait to hear some audio clips.

My Pair is on the way... I've got a big band album coming up the first weekend of December that they'll get a heavy workout on. Now to figure out how to score a second pair of the Royer 122Vs... I LOVE those damned things!

I'm awaiting delivery of 002 & 003 this afternoon...

I'm tracking big bands for the next 5 days-one is headed for solo brass duties and not quite sure where the other is headed yet...

I can't believe I got the first pair released in the wild. Mike kept 001, Windover the Earth tried to get it for me but he wasn't letting go of 001. I'll try to post some example next week after things slow down a bit, controlled chaos here for the next 5 days!

Awesome on trombone soloists today. Two different players with very different styles. Paul McKee warm relaxed tone and fluid style and Dave Glenn explosive, gigantic dynamic range with intense overtones. Both players very pleased and it took it all without folding up/closing down. No eq needed, just sounded real. Tomorrow should have trumpeter Clay Jenkins (Clayton/Hamilton big band) stepping up to the plate.
I hedged my bets and doubled up with the Royer R 122V and it was bested by the CM67 in this application. My old go to was our E 47 which sounds stellar with non aggressive playing but strains under intense levels.

My VM-1 killed on bari sax today! (no surprise there...)

bloody awesome on jazz guitar today. We're mixing tomorrow so I'll try to throw something up tomorrow night.

We Went Old School and tracked yesterday, mixed today, done! Here's a snippet of guitarist Steve Kovalcheck playing a Sadowsky Jim Hall, through a Fender Twin. Left channel is 421-LTD-1-trakker, Right is CM67-SP-737 (no eq) and a touch of 4038 at 4' to a MP2-NV up the center.

John do you know Kovalcheck? Hometown kid for you, he's on our jazz faculty out here along with Jim White.
