We're on our way to 2012, and Waves is still pumpin' out 32 bit plugs!
Yeah pretty lame. I would not be surprised if they are waiting for the 64 bit launch of Pro Tools 10. BTW it is sad that Pro Tools is taking this long as well.
They better have that 64 bit goodness in the next release and it better not be more than 100 bucks...cause what we paid for in pt 9 shouldve included 64 bit, frozen tracks, offline bouncing, etc.
As for this plug..it seems alright...but I'm not buying anymore plugins until Massey releases something new that I might need/want lol...

if Waves comes out with 64 bit, do we have to pay up for WUP for it?
or how long does waves lets u not have WUP until u need to pay to upgrade?
is waves maybe racking up customers with low priced sale plugins so they can later charge WUP?

WCT=waves conspiracy theory
You never HAVE to pay...only pay when you want to upgrade your bundles to the next versions that may contain new plugins or fixes or w/e....its capped off at 200 bucks per account no matter how many plugins you got or how long they've been out of date.
"Waves is pleased to introduce a new cap on Waves Update Plan fees!
All non-overlapping Waves products (e.g. Platinum & SSL or Gold & Restoration, etc.) are now capped at $200 per account.
No matter how many non-overlapping products you own or how long their coverage has been inactive -
you'll never pay more than $200 per account to re-activate your coverage for one full year, starting today. "

That would be a shamefully unethical thing for Waves to do. I am not sure that they will be willing to risk their entire customer base for a quick buck or not. Moves like that are corporation killers. I hope your conspiracy theory is wrong because EVERYONE on both sides would suffer big time.
I love this idea for a plug-in. From watching the video, it looks like the attack of each note determines the volume setting until the next attack. Brilliant! I could definitely use this. Completely different from VR.
I also feel Waves is doing a fantastic job at coming out with great new plug-ins.
BUT... I too am concerned that there has yet to be any mention of 64 bit plug-ins. Waves! Slow down on your plug-ins until you have made what you have 64 bit!!!! When Pro Tools 64 bit comes out, I will be furious if all of your plug-ins are not 64 bit. Furious.
I haven't tried this one, but
from the video it seems to react much faster than VR.
Funny thing is, I actually find VR much more useful for bass than for vocals
On vocals it simply take the life out of the performance
the ONLY way I find it very helpful is with a very dynamic voice
setting it to only knock down 2 to 4 db (range upward to zero, so no raise)
before hitting the vocal compressor.
In that way it allows me push the comp hard avoiding overcompression in the
loudest parts, but that's about it.
On bass, VR is quite nice for sustain, so pretty much the opposite.
i'll probably demo this w/e
own it. didn't think much about it at first from the description but after a few tests last night, it really makes a big, yet still subtle leveling roundness type of impression.
people should pay more attention at the internal sequencer resolution process and the summing engine quality more than the bits resolution of the os and seq +plugin ...
yes internal rersolution have more impact than the resolution of the sequencer and plugin itslef
for exemple we have 64 bits double precision engine in sonar since a decade while using 32 bits systems witch is 2 differents things and when you come from sonar to logic for exemple ...you see (hear) what i mean ...
But this doesn't justify the slow process from waves ...
ok i stop back to the topic ....
For bass i love to use the Cl1B , i'm not a heavy bass user/recorder ....but cool to hear people impressions ....it reminds me when i started music , i used to edit word by word my lyrics !! nad every pro that were listening were telling me ....nice vocals , what mic, what compressor ....ect lol
Really natural treatment i guess ....never tried the VR also ....
But i repeat (even if bizness speaking it would be stupid from waves except if the think about their users first ) a plugin with mode : vocal , bass , ect *....
at 300 euros ...would be great ...at least for me

There is a $200 cap on Waves Update Plan charges per non-overlapping products per account. It doesn’t matter how long you haven’t been enrolled, you will only pay $200 max for one year’s coverage. Rates begin at $10 and for most products they are much less than $200. As always, you do not need coverage unless you need to update your Waves plugin version or require tech support. You can also purchase coverage after you discover an issue, unlike most warranties that require it be purchased ahead of time. To see all the details and benefits, check out http://www.wavesupport.net/content.aspx?id=2160 Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have. You can also contact us through our social media links in the signature below. This is the quickest and most direct way to receive answers to general questions (for support questions please contact tech support).
As far as 64-bit, the best answer I can give you is that we’re working hard on it every day and will let you know as soon as we have more info.
Finally, our plugin specials and sales are nothing more than that, and they include 1 free year of Waves Update Plan coverage for each plugin purchased. We value each and every customer and are simply looking for new ways to make our products affordable for everyone.

Truth is that new customers get great prices, $500 vouchers, $200 capped WUP while old customers, who in most cases, have times paid 5X the current prices and WUP get shit. Deposit something in those old suckers accounts: a plugin, a voucher, anything.... They are the ones that made you what you are after all.
they should just have upgraded the vocal rider with a bass algorithm and renamed the plugin "the rider"... but that would not make them a bunch of cash now would it?

I've got to agree with you. I bought the vocal rider and felt duped when they released this one. I'd feel better if they had a discounted rate for those who bought the Vocal Rider, but that's not likely...
Considering that, has anyone tried Bass Rider on vocals?
Just started doing it as I am just starting to understand how this plugin really works and how to tweak it for what reasons. It seems to work on a lot of stuff.
I even put it on an OH group one time with interesting results.
