Software Waves H-EQ

Waves just released a new EQ calles H-EQ.

"H-EQ is a uniquely powerful hybrid equalizer, featuring vintage and modern EQ inspired by the finest British and American consoles; seven different filter types per band, including a newly-developed, one-of-a-kind asymmetrical bell filter; an intuitive keyboard graphic that lets you choose frequencies by clicking on notes; an exclusive MS Mode so you can apply different EQ to Mid and Side content; and a flexible real-time frequency spectrum analyzer with multiple display options.

Waves H-EQ. It’s the best of all worlds."

This one could be easily added to at least Horizon and Diamond bundles. I don't like this trend, but they will probably add this later when a WUP update is needed for a major upgrade.

If you don't have Mercury it's only $99. Cheaper from certain plugin retailers.

I have always wanted a Plugin EQ that used Vintage EQ Freq's and curves which then allowed you to manipulate the curve itself in the GUI and not just the knobs. I also like that the program shows you the shape of the curve. Well done, at least they are trying to be innovative........still.......they need to get into 64 bit land

The high end boost on this thing is SWEET!!! This brings me a step closer to no dsp cards. HD is already gone. UA Manley may be down with this one.

Keyboard graphic: Choose frequencies by clicking on notes

This is sick!

That chip will fall once Pro Tools goes 64 bit in 2012.

Looks interesting. Considering that H-Comp and H-Delay are part of the Gold bundle- it would be nice if they threw their Gold/Platinum/Diamond/Horizon customers a bone once in a while.

I love the idea of using a midi keyboard for choosing frequencies! A lot of guys will probably roll their eyes at it, but it's great for guys like me that always have a keyboard at their fingertips.

I'm actually pretty excited to check out the asymmetrical bell filter on this one.

Exactly what I was thinking!
Also, I bought MPX a few weeks ago and didn't get a voucher (re-seller, but actually I paid the same price haha), and now if only I had waited I could get both plugins for only $99.

The only thing I am missing is a linear phase mode, then it would be pretty much the perfect plugin EQ - featurewise, that is.

Umm, you may wanna read the voucher fine print... you most certainly won't get "two-for-one!"

Anyway, first thought: ANOTHER EQ?

Will wait to hear user reports... probably don't need it, but then, you never know, right? I certainly don't hang out at mystudioiscompleteandIdontneedmorestuffslutz.com.

Yeah, demo runs fine.... I wished a digital HP type with 36 or 48dB. M/S works fine. I find the curves very usable.
$99 is a no brainer ($89 at wavesuniverse.com)

Yeah, the keyboard is a cool idea!

No references to famous brands, engineers or movies.
Glad to see they haven't abandoned serious plug-ins.

My question is what is each emulation specifically. Are these the same API, Neve, and SSL emulations but with more control? What are the other emulations?

I like how if there is a certain frequency that only bothers you when a certain note is hit and you know what the note is you can center the band on the note with clicking instead of thinking.

Why more plugins? And why Waves?
Seriously, even if it was selling for $10 (TDM)I would think whether to buy it.
They are all the same but different looking graphics.
Ok, now they stole from Brainworks an idea of implementing MS algorhythme in stereo EQ.
What can't a stock Digirack EQ3 that Waves one can?

Looks really good to me. I own Gold but it is a gamble. Are these lower prices permanent or contingent on 64 bit being released. If the price goes up because of 64 bit and it is not added to Gold, I will be out of luck. Does Waves give refunds to customers who buy individual plugins that are added to bundles they own?

There are no plans to add this to anything other than Mercury.

Also... Waves prices have fluctuated for a while now... I wouldn't be surprised to see it go up.

They will surelly add something in version 9 bundles. Who knows what it will be... I am pretty sure even them havent decided yet. Speaking for myself I will wait and I am sure I will get it sometime. If you want it now, yeah go ahead and buy it

Looks kinda like Angeltone on steroids.

Seriously, the keyboard function is awesome. I might think about getting it just because it has that in it. Even if it's not the EQ you want in that instance, it's quicker to figure out what frequencies match the key of the song.

Are there any other plugs anyone knows about that do this?

Ok people sometime you have to read the - not so - small print. The $100 voucher can be used up to 50% off bundles and upgrades and up to 25% off single plugins. So, if this makes you feel better, you couldn't get both plugins for $99 anyway!

Me too at first was "oh another one..."
But I find the note/frequency a brilliant idea, I do eq by note
very often and I keep the Ibis chart print on the desk and have to look
every other time. Every eq should have this feature!
A mix between Fab Filter (you can do the asymmetrical trick with it by selecting two freq points)
and Brainworx plus the keyboard.. cool

Ima test this one
