Gracie mile ! | Hi actually is not that easy because the background is a bitmap not a vector image, do you think it's too small? i avoided making it too large because i thought that if it was small enough and you were recording multiple track together you could have kept various VU Meter window open...
But i can easily make 2 or 3 different sizes...

Thankyou for making this plugin. Will be grabbing today.
Some thoughts.
1./ This will replace the ol PSP vintage meters for me. yes, I'm used to swinging needles, so like this setup, but the PSP meter is not being updated to 64bits, which makes it a no-go for me. However, your take on the bar graph meter (from the video on your site) actually looks quite good.
2./ Reference Point. I *LOVE* that you have a movable reference point. I work a large amount in sound to picture, and being able to set the reference point makes it useful for broadcast as well. (We tend to use -20dBFS as a reference point).
3./ Scale. From the looks of this, the scale is from -20 to +3. Would you consider adding a switch to go up to +4 or even +6? Not a huge one, but sometimes when trying to find the "culprit" to sounds causing huge needle shifts, its good to see the behaviour of the meter where it has gone "into the red". For broadcast, I've found a nice sweet-spot for final broadcast volume using *JUST* VU's (and a limiter on dBFS at -10) so that if the program material sits between 0 and +2, with occasional +3 peaks, it sounds great, and never gets rejected. Sure, I've been involved in industry discussions about other ways of metering / measuring loudness (and use K metering and LEQ for other duties) but I won't be ditching the VU method in a hurry. (Those of you in europe however have a very different scenario right now...)
4./ Balistics. Love the look of them - some people like variable balistics, but I'm loving the 300ms setting you've chosen! Works just like my hardware meters!
5./ Is it possible to add a peak meter alongside the VU meter? I know this adds to the complexity of the meter, but its useful to see what peaks are doing... not a biggie, as I have other meters I could open - but having the two together seems like a very good combination to me.
Think thats it for comments from me (though I like the idea of 3 different sizes - using large 27" monitor with a small dot - pitch makes it a little smaller than I'd love, but hey, at the price it is, I'm not complaining!)
Cheers!

Thks for the quik replies
I think even with bitmap it should be ok (we have xray in sonar and it works well except sometime with opengl !))
the size options is a must cause of different configuartion (depends on numbers of screens and resoultion people work with) : i will go for a big size for mys studio set up as i got a screen dediacted to metering ! and small size on my 1600*900 laptop screen !
I own the waves dorrough and size (and mode :hoirizontal , vertical )...option is really welcome ... |

Any chance of getting this into RTAS.
I know the price is cheap and you probably won't make much from it but,
I don't want to buy a VST to RTAS convertor just for this though it may be worth it in the long run.
Any chance of you making a RTAS version?
Thanx
Marc

Marc | I would really love too... I'm also finishing a complete channelstrip and wanted to create the RTAS, asked about 5 months ago to AVID for the license and SDK, no news yet...

I want to heartily +1 the request for a peak indicator built in
Just a numerical read-out would be great - with a long hold time, like 5 seconds - and goes red when >0dBFS.
It could go here: |

Is this a mono channel plugin only, or does it display the levels of both channels if you use it with a 2-channel bus (like the master bus)?

going to try your plug. thanks for your work.
3 different sizes would be very nice. especially a huge one like eg 1400x350 pixels. so you can read it from way behind. please also think of the font size
