It's time to update your POD Farms -- Line 6 has released POD Farm 2.5 and POD Farm 2.5 Platinum, updated plugins that add POD tone to any DAW. In addition to the version 2.5 updates, Line 6 released a new, free trial version.
POD Farm 2.5 now offers compatibility with any USB audio interface, 64-bit support, standalone capability, and the new free trial version. Upgrades from POD Farm 2 to POD Farm 2.5 are free for current users.
Line 6's Mike Murphy, Category Manager for POD and Effects products, further describes what the update provides: "With POD Farm 2.5, guitarists get an amazing collection of amps and effects -- the kind that gear fantasies are made of -- plus the convenience of being able to use it alone, outside of their recording software. Its vintage and modern amps, cabs, and effects make it an absolute must-have for any guitarist's studio."
Each plugin includes a range of historic guitar and bass amps, cabs, effects, classic stompboxes, preamps, and a virtual A / B / Y box. POD Farm 2.5 offers the basic recording essentials for guitar, bass and vocals, while POD Farm 2.5 Platinum delivers more than 250 models altogether. Using the carousel-style browser, you can drag and drop models into the signal flow to build your desired sound. Enhanced routing with flexible DSP allows for a broader range of tones, Line 6 says, and one signal can be split into two separate and simultaneous amp and effect signal chains with one click.
POD Farm 2.5 includes POD Farm Elements -- plugins that streamline workflow and conserve CPU horsepower by grouping POD Farm models together by effect type. You can load single amps, preamps, or effects instead of loading multiple instances of POD Farm 2.5.
Both POD Farm 2.5 and POD Farm 2.5 Platinum offer full MIDI support via any MIDI controller. MIDI Learn functionality makes it easy to control model bypass, volume, mute, global tap tempo, the virtual A / B / Y box, and more.
There do seem to be some serious bugs in this update.
Some amps behave really strange when you use the controls...like boosting a little treble will totally change the entire sound in a wrong way.

Also the LA2A comp does not work at all...!
This was just from one hour of testing
Lets face it they got smoked by Amplitube 3 with the custom shop model, which was a pure stoke of genius.
......Amplitube 3 with the custom shop model, which was a pure stoke of genius.
Personally I think that the Custom Shop Model is a bit of a gimmick. Others seem to like it though.
It seems like next they will be releasing new amp models every other month that are "must have", just seems like a way of making more money.
Its copying the Mac app store concept except for Amplitube.
Mind you i guess its better than them releasing more apps and gadgets for the iphone
For the record i like Ik's plugins, just not mad about the way the have gone lately.
The Free version of Pod Farm 2.5 has some nice goodies. The EHX Deluxe Memory Man model, which was always my favorite delay emulation on the old PODs, is nice. Heck the tuner that comes with it is worth the download alone. I was pleasantly surprised with some of the stuff they gave away in the free version.
2.5 update has been a nightmare for myself and others. RTAS stopped working completely, standalone stopped working completely. If it isn't fixed pretty quickly, I'll never buy another Line 6 product, and I own a lot of them.

Copying a Great Idea that works for the customer isn't a bad idea.
off topic - but seeing as amplitube is being discussed ... all i could find was the prices for 20 credits or 500 ... obviously the low and top end 'credit packs' ... anyone know what the full range and prices of the credit packs are?
I am pretty pleased with the updates of Pod Farm 2.5, and I use Guitar Rig also .... but I am interested in Amplitube as well. Anyone with opinions in comparisons between the three?
anyone know how the price compares between what you get by buying amplitube 3 or buying credits for the free say 125 credit bundle?
obviously you get more choice about what you get ....

I never called it a bad idea. I called it "a bit of a gimmick".
I just don't like the concept. Thats just my opinion.
Not everyone is going to like everything that you may like.

What free version? I have Gearbox and got the free update to PodFarm 1. In checking the Line 6 Monkey it had 2.5 as an update, after updating it now says I have to buy a licsense for it. WTF?

The demo of Podfarm 2.5 from Line6 has basically 2 units for each category (dynamics, delay, mod, preamps, etc.) that you can use for free.
I feel the Custom Shop model does not really benefit the customer.
My point was, if it was a full product then you would not need these add on's.
If you read my post and failed to understand that, then.... .
Back on topic, i like Podfarm.
I find it easy to get a suitable sound quickly with it, and now with 64bit support.

It's telling me they are not authorized as well and they are running in demo mode and I need to purchase a liscense. All I can surmise is that PodFarm 2.5 is not a free upgrade from 1.0 in any form. I'm just a little annoyed that the monkey told me it was just an update to 1.0. The monkey should have just called it a demo. Anyway, I'll play with the demo to see if it's worth upgrading from 1.0.
i just updated to 2.5 / I really keep y system clean in the studio - never really had a problem with AU validation or plug in problems.. pretty thankkful about that -
I did this update - installed and auth went fine -
but the compressor (LA2A) doesnt work at all, nor do many of the amp sims, mic sims, delay, basically the knobs are useless -
I tried the demo and everything seems to work. BUT . . . if I save a file with Pod Farm in it, that file will then crash Studio One when I try to reopen it. This happens on both AU and VST. Not good. Anybody else have this problem?

orcasound
absolutely. I have PodFarm 1 32 bit and PodFarm 2.5. Platinum 64bit together in Logic 9.1.3 with no problem at all. LA2A is working fine as everything in PodFarm 2.5. I tested all included tools, all processors, all presets and everything works like a charm, flawless validation in Logic. In last project I used many instances together - everything works well, no problem at all

There is a huge thread on their forum that I started last week... lots of people who have upgraded from 2.0x Platinum to 2.5 running the iLok version are having some really strange issues, myself included. Cabinet models aren't working, preamp models aren't working, etc... Almost like things are stuck in bypass, even though they're not bypassed. (All model packs show they're working, and the iLok is recognised, too...)
All of us have the same symptoms on both Win and Mac, too. Some users have had major issues reverting back to an older version of PF2 and have strange graphics anomalies. In my case, the 2.5 update actually killed my Pod Farm 1 Platinum installation as well.
The Line 6 guys haven't acknowledged these problems yet, which is hugely disappointing. I'm just glad I have a Time Machine backup and could revert easily to get things back to normal!

Consider yourself lucky!
The only people having success with 2.5 Platinum are ones who don't have the iLok version. I'm sure not buying another license, though... iLok users of 2.0x are supposed to get a free upgrade to 2.5. I'll wait it out... 2.05 is still going strong for me once I got it reloaded.

+1 on Time Machine (as I said in my previous post)
FWIW I use a POD XT Live as my 'dongle' and PF2.5 just kept crashing, I couldn't get it strated at all. When I removed it and reinstalled 2.0.2 I got this random GUI madness.
I guess I'll be OK with 2.0.2 now I've sorted it out. I was quite excited by the prospect of standalone use as its a lot more flexible than Gearbox which is also quite buggy on my system.
