New AD-DA converter with touchscreen which also functions as a PPM / VU meter
Standard with a LT-USB card, but I wonder if the LT-HD card also fits in this beautiful box, and perhaps a Thunderbolt card in the near future? |

Nice combination of features. USB card for free but I assume that slot can be used for the HD card or upcoming Thunderbolt card.

$2495 is a chink of change, but you get an AD and DA with independent headphone amp + USB + Touch Screen operation, metering + specs that are industry-leading. I am not aware of any single product or combination of products that delivers this anywhere near this price.
And the specs are actual and verifiable, not preliminary or projected. The open-ended nature of the LCD screen is quite exciting, offering opportunities to add real time analyzers, phase meters, diagnostics and other value added features. Think of the aps on your iPhone.

Yes, the LT-HD Pro Tools card can be substituted for the LT-USB card. As to Thunderbolt, we're still waiting in Intel for details. This is just one of many options that we are looking at - and the requests of our users will determine what comes next.

| Ehh. Most AD 2channels are $1000-1200 and the same for DA. Here you get AD,DA,Headphone amp, digitalIO, 32channel mixer, decent metering, and an option of interfaces for $2495 retail. Not that bad if you break it up. Seems like a good front end for an edit studio.

Very cool product, looks like a great value. Have a mobile ADR rig in mind with this as the center piece. Big Island names are getting snatched up left and right I see. Maybe I should trademark Honokaa and Hawi and sit on the name.

I see at the picture in the PDF at the backside, the Hilo is also outfitted with a 4-pin XLR 12V battery power field operation?!?!
This makes it definetly very usefull for field usage! Wow..

A few questions for Lynx --
Do the analog monitor outputs and the line outs use the same converter?
Can this be used as a stand-alone monitor controller?
How is the software updated--through the USB socket?

Answers for you...
Do the analog monitor outputs and the line outs use the same converter?
Yes. Line outs have 8 different trim options and the monitor output has volume control. Same converter and same (selectable) source. The headphone output has its own dedicated D/A converter and can have a different source.
Can this be used as a stand-alone monitor controller?
Yes
How is the software updated--through the USB socket?
Yes

Great you're here in the thread responding to questions Phil!
I saw your Youtube video about the Hilo, and it started with Lynx's wish to make a two channel interface, based on customer wishes.
Now in this multichannel times, I would have asked for a interface with at least 6 (5.1) channels out for monitoring. I mean, for "home" editing and in the field it's now for postproduction fellas (like me) very common to edit (and pre-level) in LCR, sometimes even at full 5.1.
Have you guys at Lynx considered this, or is the Hilo more directed towards the music market?
Cheers,
Jan

2,5 k is a lot compared
to an avid omni at 2,9 k
which has the best converters ever,
low latency and 8 I/Os.

That was a weird tangent, huh? Not even the same product category.
This new Lynx offering looks pretty darn amazing.
