Exclamation THE NEW MASTERING COMPRESSOR BY elysia!

Hello gearslutz,

this is our new alpha compressor, an incredible tool for advanced dynamics processing based on 100% discrete class A
solid state technology. It features an integrated MS matrix, adjustable sidechain and audio filters, a mix stage for instant
parallel compression as well as additional Soft-Clip limiters – and of course a highly sophisticated compressor section, too.

We will present it at this year’s Musikmesse in Frankfurt/Main (Hall 5.1 Booth D64) and we are looking forward to meeting
you in case you will be there. Also, we’d like to invite you to have a closer look at our website, where lots of information
and further pictures are waiting for you.

We hope you like it! Please do not hesitate to contact us via the forum or email when you have any question or comment.

Hmm .. Interesting... Do you have these compressors in production yet? All I see are CAD renderings of it.

In any case, it seems to have some appealing features. I'm not going to Frankfurt, but I would like to try it out if you plan on having a demo unit here in the US anytime soon.

Hi Dave, thank you very much for your interest. The technology is 100% finished, but the housing needs some final tuning. We have some 'real' pictures of details on our website.

Of course we're planning to get demo units to the US as soon as possible and promise to keep you informed about it.

Best regards
Dominik

Sounds like a great product, but now to the important part:

Do the knobs really glow, with those pretty blue lights?

Can you imagine how excellent that would look in a dimly lit control room?

Hi Killahurts,

here come the good news:

Yes, they do. And what is even better: you can set the light exactly to your individual needs by a nice controller on the back.
(which is also true of the push buttons with white lights. Their light intensity can be set by a second controller).

Best regards
Dominik

That's a really nice futuristic looking compressor, with all the features that gives you full control.

Would be interesting to hear how it sound.

On one hand, I can certainly sympathize with the approach of "Hey, I can't hear any difference, so why should I pay that much?". On the other, I wonder why anyone who can't hear a difference is recording, mixing, or producing records.

Dominik, you guys have a very slutty piece of gear going on, congratulations!

It's beautiful, and it appears to do everything a compressor should.

Auto-fast is a great idea, btw.

I can't wait to hear this one!

German tubes in the compressor...do you remember Fairchild comp 670 model?
Is that.

ooh ooh ooh... leave it all silver... like the teaser photo. actually, a blue one and a silver one would look nice next to eachother.

the reflection of the knob notch is a nice touch.

y'know what would be WAY slutty... turn the elysia emblem in the middle into a little phase meter or oscilloscope, so that there would be a green glowing trace behind the emblem. mmmmmmm

Do you know yet in which price range this will be?

Auf wiedersehen!

Hi all,

thank you very much for your interest and all the nice words!

Quite a lot of you wanted to know about the price. We're working on it.
This means that we do not have the final bill of material yet because we are just about to finish the housing. But in the end the BOM will be the decisive criteria for the final price.

So let me put it this way: Of course this is a high end product and therefore it cannot be cheap.
But it will definitely not be the most expensive compressor around and we promise that it'll be more than worth its price.

We feel that it is better to say it this way at the moment than to provide you with a preliminary price that might change after all.
We hope you understand this and promise to keep you updated.

Thanks
Dominik

Ditto that... Far to many "product releases" start with a CGI image but never move forward from that...

I wonder where the line is drawn on aesthetics? Sure i like gear that looks great but not when it adds substantially to the cost of the final product. If you knocked off all the fancy trimmings like the super-imposed faceplate, machined knobs, surrounds and logo and all those pretty (pointless) blue lights how much cheaper would it be?

It looks high end... but at this point in time thats about it.

Well you've only provided us with a preliminary product at the moment! Its computer image... what difference does it make if you provide a preliminary price too?

I heard the prototype some months ago.
It sounds high end too.

Ruben Tilgner, one of the masterminds behind elysia has developed the transient designer & mixdream for SPL. Quite nice work I would say.

The elysia design concept looks very unique in my eyes too.
German high end engineering at its best !

Keep on the good work.
