Thread Starter | new 2 x 16 channel ADDA converter A16 MK-II
Hi guys,
some may still know the good old A16 ultra from Sonic Core (Creamware).
I'm proud to announce that it has a worthy successor now: A16 MK-II...new are two TFT displays, MADI/ADAT interfaces and some other real nice features, and the price is very hot too ;-)
Pls take a look on Ferrofish advanced audio applications for more info.
Nice comments & questions welcome!
Greets,
Juergen / Ferrofish

In January I'm buying new converters... does Ferrofish has a supplier in Berlin?
I would like to do a test between these and the SSL Alpha Link... (I can't afford the new Burl converters )

yes, you need MADI or ADAT as digital interfaces, it can also route MADI channels to ADAT and viceversa while converting analog, so you can e.g. feed the first 16 MADI channels to analog while transferring the next 16 channels to ADAT to feed an ADAT converter...just in case you have some ADAT gear which you want to be in the MADI stream.

Jurgen,
could you please share latency values (per sample rate) for the unit?

Hi G-spot...digital latency is always 3 samples, but there are some more latencies for the conversion, this is due to the digital filters in the AKM's.
Datasheet says: 43 (for 32k-96k) 38 (for 192k) AD and 28 samples DA. So if my calculator doesn't lie to me it's about 0.6ms to 0.9ms.

Wow, this thing is really impressive! This could make MADI become available for smaller companies and studios, who can't afford that pricey (but excellent) RME stuff, which is almost 3x the price. I'm very excited how this little sucker sounds and what your next products will be.
Thanks for giving us MADI for a reasonable price!

thanks, jeremy | This is not a computer audio interface, it is an A/D and D/A convertor. It converts ADAT & MADI -> analog and vice versa.

Interesting. I owned the old Creamware mint green color a16 Ultra and it was always rock solid and sounded pretty great for the $$.

here are some more specs, sorry for the delay (i mean mine, not the delay in the a16..):
THDN: typ -100dB (in), -102dB(out)
Jitter: <1ns (internal, BNC, ADAT), <2ns MADI
OpAmps: LM833
Converters: AK4620B from AKM
The remote software is currently only for PC, the MAC version is currently in development (but you can control everything also directly on the box)
